| #1 Posted on 16.2.10 2217.37 Reposted on: 16.2.17 2218.22 | There were plenty of plugs for NXT thru the night, including going thru all of the pairings, but that's going in another thread already.
- video package of ECW past in black and white (seemed mostly pulled from the One Night Stands), with the voice over saying 20 years of ECW was coming to an end.
1) The Miz & Big Show b Goldust & Yoshi Tatsu to retain the UNIFED Tag Team Championship, Miz pinning Goldust with the Skull Crushing Finale.
* GM Tiffany tried to promote NXT, but was interrupted by Zack Ryder & Rosa Mendes. Zack demanded to be involved in the main event, was denied, and pointed out the rules allowed him to get involved anyway.
* the Abraham Washington show featured special guest...Abraham Washington. Shelton Benjamin intruded, followed by Vance Archer, followed by Croft & Barretta, followed by Koslov. Koslov and Archer shoved, and Koslov took out Archer, Barretta, and Croft (with a minor assist from Shelton.) Koslov & Shelton shook hands.
- Christian talked to the crowd, dedicating the match to the original ECW stars (none were named, all night) and the up and comers.
2) Ezekiel Jackson defeated Christan (w/Wiliam Regal) to retain the ECW Championship in an Extreme Rules match. Christian is the final champion. - weapons of choice were kendo sticks and garbage can parts - Ryder ran in the first minute, and got dropped on a garbage can - Rosa slapped Christian, and Tiffany ran into "spear" Rosa. Tiffany ejected both Ryder & Rosa from ringside before the first break, and all three were never seen again.
- match turned into a normal match for a bit, but metal stairs came in to play. - As the battled on the outside, Christian started limping, which only became worse as the match went on - Zeke took over on the outside, Christian getting a momentary edge by dropkicking a table into both heels as they were pulling it out from under the ring. - Zeke took back over in the ring, with Christian being a little obvious in leading him thru things. - Christian nearly put Zeke thru the table with a DDT, but Zeke threw him out of the way. - Christian chased Regal to the back with a cane, only for Regal to come back and break up a Kill Switch on Zeke. Regal got in a shot, Christian gave him the kill switch, but Zeke caught Christian with the urange thru the table for the win.
The final shot of the show was Zeke posing with the title, and then a NXT ad.
----
Thought last week's tag match was better than this one. The challengers didn't seem to have any chance against Big Show. They probably shouldn't have at this point, but it made for a less entertaining match.
The seeming point of the last Abraham Washington show was to get everyone still here on the show (poor Hurricane), though the secret point was to kill the rating enough to make next week's bump look more impressive. That these were the guys who were left says a lot about why no one cares this show is dying. They probably could've made this show a bit more enjoyable if they hadn't given up on it a while ago.
Zeke/Christian was nothing special. As an ECW champion, Zeke is at least as good as Johnny Hotbody. I still sort of expect Zeke to have the belt when he turns up next; why make sure he has it at the end if it's not going to be used? WWE practice is usually to do the happy finish.

I imagine there won't be a big bidding war for Tiffany's services as a General Manager. RAW has guest hosts and why would Teddy Long hire someone to replace him? Does NXT need a general manager?
I loved Josh Matthews furiously scribbling at the announce table during the Abraham Washington Show, not remotely paying attention.

Nice list but I'd replace the last two with Christian vs Ryder, the first one, and at least one Big Show match for the hell of it.. maybe Big Show vs RVD
5 best were Morrison, Big Show, Tommy Dreamer (only guy to be there the entire time!), CM Punk, and Christian. 5 worst in order of worst to least worst were Ortiz, Walker, Sandman, Gavin Spears, and Colin Delaney. Test, Gabriel, and Knox don't belong anywhere near either list. | Matt Tracker

Well with tonight marking the last episode of ECW. I will stick to my guns. I have one more blog after this and I am done. My friend Joey Styles has a great blog on WWE Universe about ECW and he addressed many of my thoughts(you think that guy knows how to tell a story of something almost like he was an announcer). I suggest you give it a read. He left out that on WWE Classics that I am his co host and I have a great time doing that. As a follower of the old ECW you get some deep insight into the insane behind the scenes of crazy ECW. We also have a ton of fun and make alot of jokes at everyones expense.
The Internet is a buzz about WWE dropping the ECW ball. Well lets look at what the world likes to call the WWE's greatest blunder the XFL. It looked like a great idea on paper. It had great network support but after the first week and great ratings, those ratings started to fall. Why? I feel the level of play. Many die hard football fans realized that there was a reason the players were not in the NFL. Maybe they just did not belong. That could also hold true to the tv show ECW, no matter how hard we all worked, it could never be what it was, for so many reasons, I do not want to get into. However everyone wants to knock Vince McMahon for the XFL, but look at this many aspects of the XFL have been stolen by the NFL. The field camera view. The behind the scene lockeroom stuff. Having the viewer be almost on the field at all times, was what the XFL was all about. The NFL Network and every channel that carries football now does what that XFL tried to bring. So instead of blaming Vince. He deserves some credit for shaping the NFL the way it is today. As well as having the grapefruits for taking on the task.If you think about it Vince McMahon's vision good or bad has us all talking about his actions.
Many WWE Superstars had taken pride being on the ECW brand. I personally want to thank them all for their bumps, sweat and bruises during their ECW tenure.Everyone wanted more for themselves and the brand. I am sure Christian will continue to work his hardest to entertain on the last ECW show.
Here is my #2 favorite personal moment of the new ECW
June 7,2009 Extreme Rules PPV
The night I won the ECW Championship. I had made the pledge to leave ECW, if I did not win the ECW title. Many behind the scenes things were going on and I had taken enough. I put it all on the line and I did it. I was overwhelmed with emotion. I could not believe all the signs that were made for me. I loved the match. I loved the celebration afterwards. It proved to the world and to myself I still mattered. Thanks new ECW.
Thanks for reading,
Tommy Dreamer

Clearly, this is precicely what they were doing. And, that's consistent with the way Vince does this sort if thing. I just don't get why it makes sense to do so. Is a loyal ECW viewer more or less likely to continue to tune into the same Bat Time, same Bat Channel next week? "Feh, screw Vince, he didn't even leave the title with somebody deserving." "Feh, screw Vince, he didn't even give Tommy a final runin to deal with Regal." "Feh, screw Vince, he didn't even put together a decent buh-bye package." No, clearly what will draw in the viewers for next week is, "Eh, that was a total drag, passel of disrespect, & waste of resources." Yeah, that's what's going to get that carry-over audience. | J.
