I have literally stopped watching Raw because this guest host nonsense has been, on average, fucking terrible.

It was an ok Raw with a lot of my Monday shows now done for the season and re-runs I tried watching the whole way through. I couldn't, I kept flipping to the Dog Show which at times was entertaining. TNA can not get here soon enough. I didn't mind the Jerry Spring crap, but Khali's manager needs a raise for saying how this was a giant waste of time. Book that kid now for the free thinking GM role Raw needs. Bret has been booked as such a loser in his return that I probably would have preferred his Hall of Fame being the last memory of him instead of this storyline. Something tells me, Batista is promised a shot at the title for Wrestlemania and that is why he is pulling for Cena to win. It would make sense since he is not in the chamber or has anything else going on right now.

Springer segment was almost Wrestlecrap, saved by Santino's antics and Springer's delivery of "We all know Brie is a man."

I disagree. He's been intentionally disqualified in the past when he has *a reason* to be DQ'd. To save the title, or if he's about to be pinned. That's giving some weight to the types of losses -- it's better to lose by DQ than by pinfall/submission. That's especially true when he has the title to save.

Other times he's been DQ'd because he'd prefer to inflict harsh pain than to win. That gets over the intensity of the feud, rather than say that winning doesn't matter. Hurting the other guy just happens more at that point.

I think it's more a situation where "winning and losing matter ... except when they don't" than "winning and losing don't matter ... except when they do." There's usually a reason behind every intentional DQ that explains things, and absent those situations, it can be implied that the wrestlers care about wins and losses.

I thought the Springer thing was a fun segment. They didnt take themselves too seriously and you could tell everyone in the ring was having a good time.

I like the idea of having guest hosts, but how come they dont make matches on camera anymore? And the last couple only got like one segment in the middle of the show. Weird.

I saw that collision coming a mile away when the collider's reverse lights came on right when Cena & Bret approached Bret's limo, then stayed on the whole time until Cena walked away. Pretty sloppy, I thought. The whole time, I kept thinking "Why did that BMW's reverse lights just come on out of nowhere? And why are they staying on like that? And when's the last time you saw a non-American-made-rental backstage at a wrestling show?"

Good to see I'm not the only one who wanted to punch Cole in the mouth for calling it "the worst night in Bret Hart's life." He is worse than Tony Schiavone ever was.

You realize, of course, that he was only saying what he was told to say. Which is what Tony Schiavone did too, and Jim Ross, and Todd Grisham, and anyone else. Cole could have chosen not to say it, I guess, but it wouldn't be hard for Vince to replace him with someone who's willing to do the job that they pay him to do.

I'm aware of that, but do you really think they were telling him to overdo it like that? I think someone like Jim Ross would've mentoned it three times tops.

And really - Cole is the WWE's most annoying announcer so it's easy to pick on him.

But isn't this also true for every single match in the last 50 years of wrestling, short of also meaningless claims about winner's purses and contenders rankings? I think you just have to go with the assumption that all the wrestlers very much want to win because.

Nobody drove the point home about winning a match better than Gorilla Monsoon with Ventura/Heenan. When you always imply that the winner is getting a bigger payday than the loser it makes non meaninful matches mean a little bit more.

Also if you don't talk about championship belts weighing 15lbs how will we know that they really hurt when you get hit in the head with it?

    Yes.
Then they're dumb. It added nothing to the storyline, and unless the average WWE fan is an idiot, going through a stroke (which Bret mentioned in storyline terms) is far worse.

Dedicated match to mother on Mother's Day, lost. I thought he'd hang up his boots for good after that humiliation.

Take two of these away, and that's a mighty fine Top Ten List - one could almost call it a Professional Top Ten (...or some variation thereof).

You mean Canada beating the US in Salt Lake City in the Gold Medal game on U.S. soil in 2002? But that was a good day for Bret. Plus, you guys have Alan Thicke now. CANADA WINS!

The Springer thing wasn't as bad as it could've been, but really, it speaks to how out of touch Vince really is. Welcome to 1998. OH MY GOD, THEY KILLED KENNY. Springer is hardly the "in" thing right now. Reminds me of when they brought Limp Bizkit to perform a few Manias ago, I think 19, when they were well passed the point where anybody cared about them, if, in fact anyone ever did.

Put me in with people who think it is a Cena-Bret trick.

I laughed throughout the Springer bit despite myself. Completely harmless as far as I'm concerned. The GrandMaster Sexay mention was my favorite moment of the night. Oh, Santino! Somehow I saw the Mae Young reveal coming from a mile away. She's like their go-to gross out/embarrassment material.

Yeah I saw it coming too and also thought it was sloppy. As soon as I saw the car next to the limo, with the engine running and the lights on, I knew Bret's limo was getting smashed into. I thought it was going to be McMahon in the car though. I much prefer the idea that Cena and Hart set it up in order to get McMahon confident enough to face him. It's kinda sneaky like the metal chest plate versus Goldberg (though not quite as awesome!). As an added bonus, fans will understand why Bret's offense (if there is a match) is so incredibly basic: he just got his leg shattered.

Another sort of sloppy thing, I didn't expect Sheamus to run in at the end, but it kinda sorta became obvious when his championship belt comes FLYING into the picture a couple of seconds before he does. Moron. How bout leave the belt in the back? It's not even like he was using it as a weapon. I'm still not liking him as a credible champ, especially since he seems to be a two trick pony (pump kick, Razor's Edge) at best. The way he yells after he's done something grates on me too. For some reason it reminds me of basketball fans in the crowd cheering after a buzzer beater. Like he can't believe he did something right.
