According to NFL.com, Peyton Manning ran away with the MVP this season receiving 39.5 votes while Drew Brees was second with 7.5, Philip Rivers with 2 and Brett Favre with 1.

Thoughts and Analysis:

I believed Peyton Manning was this year's MVP because with Marvin Harrison gone and some injuries to some of his team, Peyton made people better and proved why he is arguably the best QB today (except only 1 ring to show for all his accolades).

What surprises me is how Peyton won the MVP in convincing fashion; I thought this would be a lot closer with Drew Brees and the Saints and Brett Favre and what he did in Minnesota this year.

I wish people would get off the "he only won __________ rings"

Trent Dilfer has a Super Bowl ring. Does that mean he's equal at QB? Does that make Dilfer a better QB than Dan Marino?

It's a team sport. He doesn't play defense, and he isn't alone on offense. Not to mention running into some pretty good Patriot teams hurt him.

He beat the world with a bunch of no names this season. He totally deserves the award.

That is a valid point and yes it is a team sport. Unfortunately, the QB gets the slack if a team doesn't go far and the public rewards if his team does. And that was a wise way of comparisons between Dilfer and Marino (so kudos to that).

I honestly think Peyton deserves it as it was mentioned he won with some no-namers who he turned into regulars and is without too much question the smartest QB around today.

I think the playoff thing would've gone away for Manning after the Super Bowl win but the one-and-dones in the playoffs against teams they were expected to beat continue to pile up so that's kind of embarrassing.
