So I live in Florida. Tampa to be exact. And it is cold.

Lows have been in the mid- to upper 20s for the past week. The lowest I've recorded with a thermometer on my balcony is 23. And Saturday morning at about 3 am, in a small city north of here called Bushnell, I saw snow. In Central Florida.

It wasn't a blizzard or anything, just light snow that melted as soon as it touched the ground. But it was snow. In Central Florida.

It is the third time in my life I've seen snow - the first was when I lived in Austin and one weird weekend in 2007 I woke up to four inches of snow on my lawn. The other was while I was running outdoors in shorts and flip-flops trying to catch a connecting flight in Chicago in January 2008 because that stupid airport requires you to go outside and come back in again if you are changing terminals.

We haven't had much precipitation here during the cold spell, which is disappointing because I would like to see it snow in Tampa. In parts of the next couple of days, we could see lows in the upper teens. I'm keeping my fingers crossed (and my heater on).

Right now, it's 28 and sunny. Yesterday, high of 30, low of 17. So the complaining about snow from a few of my friends in Florida has been amusing, to say the least.

Am I prick for saying that the temperature where I live is a high of 68˙F and a low of 58˙F - and that I am wearing shorts, a t-shirt, and flip flops as we run errands today? 'Cause I'd hate to be a prick. :)

Bleh. People here in the NY metro area get too melodramtic about the temps. It's cold (usually about 30's in the daytime, wind chill feeling like 20-25), but not that cold. It felt worse last year, IMO. As for percipatation, it snowed a touch on friday morning, but that melted quickly and today is rather sunny. The forecast says it will slowly warm up throughout the week to about 40 by the weekend. So it's not the bitter cold and blizzard conditions a lot of friends and poeple I know of are bitching of. If you live in the Midwest and hear them complaining, you have my full permission to slap them upside the head.

Currently -15C (4F), made it up to about -1C (29F) earlier today. Clear skies, minimal wind. For Saskatchewan in January, I've got no complaints.

I'm working in Dallas this week and it seems cold after my week in Phoenix last week - but I am still just wearing a hoodie and all, so it's can't be too bad.

I miss last week though :)

Welcome to sunny Dallas. Hope you are enjoying your stay. Today is not too bad, in the 40's. But last Saturday was really cold for this area, our high was in the 20's.

Here in Winnipeg, we are expecting a heatwave: instead of cold and miserable, it's gonna be above freezing for a few days!

Not even a week ago, it was -25c. Tomorrow, it'll be +3c. I can't wait!

I though you lived in Phnom Penh?

It's cold here too. Hasn't been about 26F in almost 20 days. Mostly hanging around 15 day and 7 night.

Lived there for about two years, moved back to Tampa for grad school a few months ago.

Today, it's 50 degrees, and it's supposedly going to be back in the low 70s by the end of this week. Then next week, back to the 20s and 30s. I don't mind the cold, but I hate this fluctuation. Stupid Florida weather.

72 degrees was the high today. I swear it was warmer near the end of last week. I went to the zoo yesterday, ended up getting a slight sunburn too.

Night time is pretty cold too, Right now it's 54 degrees. Brrrrrrr.... I hate San Diego winter.

My wife grew up there, her parents are still there and her sister is in Fryeburg. We were visiting for a few days.

I also spend quite a bit of the summer in North Haven and Vinalhaven, off the coast from Rockland. Can't imagine what the weather is like out there this time of year. Those locals are nuts.

In Port of Spain, Trinidad for a week on business. It's been 31/32°C and sunny all week. I am not looking forward to going home to freezing temperatures and precipitation of the non-liquid variety.

The pronunciations may be a little different though. For instance, Madrid is pronounced MAD'rid, with the emphasis on the first syllable. Vienna is pronounced VI (rhymes with eye) - enna. Locals know if you're not from round these parts, mister.
