Is it just me, or are the empty spaces where ads should be really disturbing? Maybe I'm too used to commericals, but it freaks me a little bit - I don't know when the show's coming back, and I have nothing to listen to till it does. Promote this thread! | | CRZ

Years back, I used to listen to Sunday night "PrimeTime" reruns at work - John Clayton and the NATIONAL...Football League (play sound cart for a minute straight) was the highlight of my night - and they always used to fill the blank space with generic music. I wonder why they don't still do that? I agree that the silence would be disconcerting. | thecubsfan

This used to be great on Tony's show, as there was dirt and cursing (usually by Wilbon). Now, they've sanitized it, due to a few bad incidents and probably also Tony's producer getting fired (not apparently related to this).

It isn't just you, cubs. It is freaky. It's dead silent for a few minutes and you wonder if your connection kicked off. So you turn up the volume and it comes screaming back on! Yow. | PhilRippa

What is really funny is that sometimes it is just dead air, sometimes it is generic music and sometimes they just leave the mics on so you can hear what is going on in the stadium. Many a times, I have been able to play along with the Subway races during home games.

The cool thing is that one of the songs they play (only the instrumental parts too) is Matthew Sweet's 'Girlfriend.' | Socks

The first thing they taught us in "School" was to always make sure something was going over the air. Anything, as long as it wasn't "silence"

Many commercials and most songs can no longer be played over the internet without severe fees being charged. Many stations have ended internet casts entirely because of this stupid ruling.
For my station, a NEWSTALK station mind you, it would cost upwards of 10 grand to put our signal on the net. That ain't happening. Music stations pay much much more.....
This is why YAHOO is stopping their internet broadcast service...
