Sad that Captain Lou Albano died. There's no article yet on wwe.com, just a picture and a note of his passing on the main page.

From the PWTorch:

Other News: Legendary pro wrestling manager Captain Lou Albano dies at age 76
Oct 14, 2009 - 10:20:15 AM

By James Caldwell, Torch assistant editor

Legendary pro wrestling manager Captain Lou Albano died at age 76 this morning. According to the Miami Herald, his family says that he was at home under hospice care before his death.

Wrestler's Rescue is taking up donations to help Cpt. Lou's family pay for medical expenses related to an illness that led to his death. Read more.

Captain Lou recently released his autobiography with a foreword by Cyndi Lauper, who used Cpt. Lou in her popular "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" music video that helped bring publicity to pro wrestling during the Rock 'n Wrestling era of the early 1980s as Vince McMahon took WWE national.

I had just read that he was in hospice. That's too bad.

I started watching the WWF right after his feud with Snuka. For me, he's right up there with Hogan and Piper in terms of defining the wrestling of my childhood.

I remember him even more fondly for the Super Mario Brothers Super Show, than for his wrestling career, ridiculously great feud with Jimmy Snuka notwithstanding. Great run, great talker. RIP, Manager of Champions.

Can't believe I found out about this through a video game blog of all places. Capt. Lou's reach was far and wide.

Often Imitated, Never Duplicated. So much a part of my youth and memories. I regret that I'll never get a chance to thank him for all that he did.

He was truly great at what he did, and a very nice man from what I hear. I used to call his 900 hotline number, watch him on super mario bros. super show, and of course remember him during his rock n' wrestling days. A legend in eery sense of the word. RIP.

I'd chalk that up more to luck than being a saint.

Or chalk it up to the Captain's diet of unborn virgin goat's milk.

Great performer and a true icon; in and out of the ring.

Captain Lou, along with some wrestlers whose names escape me at the moment, appeared on an episode of Hey Dude back in the early 90s. Seeing as how Hey Dude is probably the best Nickelodeon show there is, was, or ever will be, that crossover will forever be at the top of my list.

Yep, I do also. Considering it was on here at 6am in the morning before I had to rush off to middle school. Man was a true entertainer no matter where he was. Just remember how over the top to me he seemed.
