I haven't bought a WWE DVD since the WCCW one came out, but this one is a must have! http://www.amazon.com/gp/mpd/permalink/m2V8OL0SC0ED7W/ref=flash_player_2_preplay Promote this thread! | | CRZ

Match selection really doesn't inspire me to make the purchase. Far too little JCP, and why would anyone want the Rodman/Karl Malone match to see the light of day again? | Big Bad

I believe that was the second biggest match in WCW history, and I think Hogan/Sting was on another DVD already. | ekedolphin

| #8 Posted on 10.8.09 0300.49 Reposted on: 10.8.16 0301.31 | As far as I can tell, only one of these matches is already on a compilation DVD that I own, that being the War Games '96 match, which was on nWo: Back in Black.
Having said that... Hogan v. Sting at Starrcade '97 was indeed on the Best of Starrcade DVD that was just released, so that's probably why it didn't get on this one. (I wouldn't have minded seeing their rematch from SuperBrawl VIII for the vacant title, though.)
Of course, if this were a perfect world I'd like to see the finale of Booker T and Chris Benoit's "Best of 7" series (which ended in eight matches); or Benoit winning the U.S. Title from David Flair; or the triple-threat between him, Page and Raven...
(I know. Keep dreaming.)
I can say with authority that the ladder match from Souled Out '97, in which Eddie Guerrero defended the U.S. Title against Syxx (who had physical possession of the belt), is fantastic. If I'm not too much mistaken, this is the first match from that pay-per-view ever released on a WWE DVD. (Not that I've taken the time to look through eight years worth of catalog titles.) The Souled Out '97 atmosphere was... well, "bizarre" doesn't quite do it justice.
The Booker T vs. Lance Storm match for the World Title should be quite interesting to see, too. Storm, of course, was a triple-champion at that point, holding the United States, Cruiserweight, and Hardcore Championships concurrently. (Which he renamed the Canadian, 100 KG and Under, and Saskatchewan Hardcore International Titles, respectively.)
I'm there, even though my protest about the continued whitewashing of you-know-who has been registered. | InVerse

If Foley were still in the WWE, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this still made the cut just so he could do commentary on it.
What's Black Saturday? (Oh, hey, I'm on the Internet and can probably look that up for myself. It was when Vince McMahon bought out Georgia Championship Wrestling's TBS TV deal which apparently kicked off the entire Ted Turner/Vince McMahon rivalry. (Is it really a rivalry if only one person is actively participating?) Here's the Wikipedia article about it for anyone else who had never heard of it.)) | DJ FrostyFreeze

This is a terrific match. I remember being red hot for it in 2000 thinking Storm had a chance. Perfect way to elevate a wrestler. At least Russo gave new people chances. | hansen9j

I'm thinking it's on for a different reason.

Off the ropes, up and over, Storm leapfrog, SOME GUY delivers food to Awesome and Heidi...they just CAN'T have a match in WCW, can they.
...
We look at a plate of Arby's while Heidi complains that there aren't any donuts on the plate. For the love of God, how about the MATCH.
My hunch is that it's in as a bad example of Russo, in that even when he gives new people chances, he cuts their legs out from under them by surrounding bullshit.
