My wife had been asking me for years to stop watching RAw, even for a while, so we could spend so time together on Mondays after the kids go to bed. Three weeks ago I told her I would stop watching RAW throught the summer, but may start watching it again in September. I even promised NOT to DVR RAW. This is the best example of a win-win situation. My wife is happy to not have to suffer throihg RAW and can not spend time with me and I am happy I do not have to watch RAW as from reading the recaps, it sucks moreso now than ever.

Good thing she does not mind Smackdown!!

Breaking news from WWE.com! Mr. Trump's helicopter has landed at Titan Tower! Presumably for the paperwork to be signed and the "handover of the keys" as it were.

http://bit.ly/xMLEX

I appreciate the attempt at verisimilitude. This is an excellent photo op. Best since DX was spraypainted on the walls of Titan Tower. I also like the speculation of whether Trump will make a bid for Smackdown and ECW and put the McMahons out of their own business.

I gotta say, this new storyline proves the old adage that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Since the 80's, Vince McMahon has seen the world as himself vs. the billionaire du jour. It used to be Ted Turner, who Vince vanquished, but now he's in all likelihood going to war against Donald Trump for the second time. Vince must always be at imaginary war vs. a billionaire.

(Before anyone points out the Monday Night War was very real, Vince was at war with Eric Bischoff, true, but in Vince's mind he was always fighting Billionaire Ted's Dubbya See Dubbya.)

How can you have RAW in Charlotte without Ric Flair? Something must have went amiss for Flair not to be there.

Did anyone notice that the WWE screwed up in the commercial in the middle of the Smackdown match by giving away that Punk was going to win?

the ECW match was totally dead with the crowd. It was nice to let Dreamer have the belt one last time but they really need to get him to drop it fast.

Jericho was the highlight of the show, especially when he was bashing Raw... Right on target!!

Big Show had a real good night but his days are numbered. They really need to groom a new giant to replace him. Plenty of 6'10 to 7 foot NFL lineman types who are just a step too slow to play football could replace him.

MVP must have really fouled up during the last week, they sure killed his push.

I would have had Miz dump Cena/HHH over the ropes. Instead we are stuck with yet another HHH/Orton. Another interesting ending would have been Legacy being the last 2 in the ring.

While his days may really be numbered, I can't imagine a guy Big Show's size being as good in the ring as he was at times in his career. I'm not saying he was amazing, but he's had a great and very memorable career, which is something many others his size or similar cannot say.

So can some one please give me a reasion why vince had to sell raw?

I thought that it was made clear as to why Vince sold Raw. Trump will be able to do a more better job at ruining the show. Vince then can not be at fault for all the bad things that will happen.

This is a great time for TNA to really grab a Monday night slot and run head to head with Raw. Both shows have wrestlers in the lime light that I am not interested in and have poor direction via storylines. So many times lately have I turned Raw off. Instead of turning off Raw I might just flip the channel, that's how I started following WCW years ago. TNA still doesn't measure up to Raw however they are not far behind in entertainment value. Of course, in this scenario I'm only considering the fact that Raw's quality is degrading, TNA really isn't getting any better. Just a thought.

Jericho/Mysterio was perfect. Jericho adding meaning to being a Savior is great. Jericho will save Rey from his downfalls.

I really wanted to see the strap on Big Show. A serious angry Big Show is a great champ. No real story needed for him. He's big, He's Angry and can speak perfect English. Sure all the top contenders in the past have had their way with him, easy fix. Last night they made me believe it could be done (especially the way he threw Randy Orton on the first RKO attempt). It took at least three separate finishers to keep him down!

Now, I always appreciate a good photoshop job, but I wonder how a plane can land on a building with no landing pad? (photobucket.com)

It kinda stuck out in my mind when I did a quick look for WWE's building online and found that picture.

I have to agree with everybody else in saying they don't care about the trump storyline at all.

I missed the first hour. Was Mysterio wrestling without a mask?

I too loved Cody calling it the GREAT AMERICAN Bash. All I kept thinking was he should call it the Bash at the Beach.

MIZ is growing on me. After his chair attack, he should be given a more ballsy personality. But, his douche-ness is working well.

Golddust seems to have really gotten in shape. Too bad his chances of getting a push with his gimmick are gone. Hornswaggle taking it in the yam bag was great.

The battle royal was fun.

Is Kofi's trunks a bit racist?

Santino talking to Vince was gold.

Overall, they give me just enough to care about to keep watching, but nothing to make it MUST SEE tv.

I'm sure someone here will be able to give us a better sense of the actual booking plans, but just speaking as a fan on and off through the entire WrestleMania era, here's what I expect upon seeing Trump introduced as the new Raw owner, and the promo he did with Vince:

1) Trump makes Vince an overwhelming offer for the Raw franchise, Vince (being all about the MUN-NAY) agrees to sell.

2) Trump takes over, immediately criticizing how Vince has run the business, proceeds to implement "fan friendly" stunts like a commercial-free Raw, maybe another cash drop if you're in Green Bay next week?

3) Expect to see Trump fire someone next week, and continue to bad-mouth Vince and his business acumen. Vince will get so upset, he will claim to have named himself Raw GM before he sold.

4) After a week or two of meddling with Trump 'reforms', The Donald calls Vince to the center of the ring to give him his catchphrase. Vince wigs out, selling the insult like Flair at his peak.

5) Vince strikes back with a faction meant to disrupt the Raw shows, typical tit for tat as both men build the feud culminating in...

6) A blow off "You're Fired" match between Trump and Vince (via proxies) at SummerSlam.

- - - - - - - - -

As recommended, I'll give SmackDown a try.

Undertaker as GM is something I never thought of before, but would really like to see. His character is usually only solely concerned with the person he's feuding with and uninterested in just about all other matters, so him as GM would be an interesting dynamic. No chance he could ever be intimidated or bullied, either.

Smackdown and Raw are going completely in opposite directions right now. It helps that Smackdown is booked a whole lot smarter, but the roster just seems to work together so much better than the 'Superstar' loaded Raw roster.

The Triple Threat match was well booked. It was fun to watch, the crowd was really into it and everyone ended up looking good in the end.

I'm a sucker for Battle Royals, and it was good. Nice to see guys like Regal in there, Matt Hardy should wear a shirt and it seems like a long time since they did the throw the big guy out of the ring only with a few extra casualties that go over the top with him spot.

My main complaint with the Smackdown side is the announcing isn't all that great. JR really brings nothing to the table anymore other than a familiar voice and putting over a major angle, like Trump buying Raw (something Cole and the King did a horrible job at). JR and the guy he is working with basically combine to do the job of one guy, ala Joey Styles in his heyday, only they rarely call the moves.

I still find it hard to believe that the way the business is stagnent right now and they keep beating us over the heads with a PPV a month, they don't just put the belt(s) on someone and make them defend against all comers until WM

I doubt it would make a difference in the buys and etc. Stabalize the belt and make new stars. Same old song and dance

I'm going with the idea that Trump in charge with an army full of hack writers is going to lead to RAW Entertainment and variety Hours. Which is fine - these trainwerecks for no good reason is right on par with the Bad Nitros, who had plenty of reason to put on trainwrecks

Smackdown is a damn good show, as is ECW. With Superstars and PPV, thats plenty of action. The more skits and less wrestling on RAW, the better

There is not enough talk about how mind-numbingly terrible Ted Dibiase was on commentary. The elder Dibiase had a great character, but it was the promos and wrestling that made it work. Dibiase Jr. is terribly plain in the ring and his promos are insufferable.

Other than that, Raw was okay, due mostly to the Smackdown matches.

Ok, that was bugging me. I saw the AIG and I thought it was a weak heel move, weaker than throwing on a rival's jersey to get heat from the crowd. I honestly thought he threw on a shirt with AIG on it to elicit SOME reaction from the crowd.

I think the Brawler could come out to his music and get a (better) pop. I don't know why I care about this so much, or keeping track of it so much. Maybe it's because I don't like the character. He was a TO type of arrogant free agent and I just hate crybaby millionaires, like TO and others who have contract disputes and hold out for a couple more million because they "got to feed [their] families."
