Q n'D Results with brief notes.

United States Champion Kofi Kingston retains against Matt Hardy, MVP, and William Regal after hitting Trouble in Paradise on Regal.

*Note*
Timing, timing, TIMING! Something was off among the four.

Chris Jericho def. Rey Mysterio in No Holds Barred Match
(New Intercontinental Champion) 9th Time.

*NOTES*
It was about a 60-40 match with Jericho being that one move ahead to win. Rey got in most of the offense he uses. The finish was Jericho countering the 619 by striping Rey of his mask and a roll up. Rey ran off as quick as he could "disgraced".

Jericho started at the merchandise with a promo walking down through the arena referencing that he did it last time when he was talking about John Cena.

CM Punk def. Umaga (Samoan Strap Match)

Tommy Dreamer def. Christian & Jack Swagger in Triple Threat Hardcore Rules Match (New ECW Champion)

Santina Marella def. Vickie Guerrero in a Hog Pen Match to become Miss Wrestlemania.

*NOTE*
Vickie and Chavo really sold the pig pen.

Batista def. Randy Orton in a Cage Match to become the New WWE Champion.

*NOTE*
Just seemed really short and lacking something. I have a feeling something will happen on RAW tomorrow.

John Cena def. Big Show in a Submission Match

*NOTE*
Blown/goofy finish. Cena had to put Big Show's foot underneath the middle rope. About the Cena applied the STF it popped out and where was the rope break? Ropes are legal in a submission match?

Jeff Hardy def. Edge to become New World Champion!

*NOTE*
Punks music starts!

C.M. Punk def. Jeff Hardy after two consecutive GTS manuvers to become NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!

*Final Thoughs*

Now I see why they rushed a couple things because they ran four minutes shy of the 11 p.m. mark. Well, lots of things changed. Fall out everywhere, what will happen on RAW? Smackdown? ECW?

Enjoyable but I feel a little shorted for some reason. May be some of the payoff were as big as I thought they were going to be. Anyways. Discuss!

Big props to my fellow Batista fan KathyNumbers for being the only person on The W to pick Dave in the predictions thread over Randy. I am stoked that Dave is now the champ! Tomorrow night should be interesting.

Batista def. Randy Orton in a Cage Match to become the New WWE Champion.

    *NOTE*
Just seemed really short and lacking something. I have a feeling something will happen on RAW tomorrow.

Well, apparently Batista tore his bicep, and is scheduled to have surgery Tuesday, so it's a good bet *something* will go down on Raw. Why you give Batista the belt in this instance, I don't know.

I assume Punk is a heel now. With Edge divorcing Vickie, I wonder if he's turning face.

So Orton can catch up to Edge one day, duuuuuuh.

Action action action! Five title changes in one night! Nobody's got more surprises and twists and turns than us! This was the greatest night in the history of Nitro~! *guitar*

WWE really needs a crusier tag belt to fully complete the evolution to 2000 WCW.

That was my immediate thought because the crowd turned SHARPLY on him while he was standing there jumping up and down chomping the bit to get the bell to ring.

Whoa, really? I thought the match had a very 'Orton failed a drug test' feel to it.

Can you tell us where you are getting this from? I don't see it online anywhere.

If true, and Batista AGAIN has to vacate the title because of injury, I should never give it to him again. I don't understand why he won anyway.

wrestling gossip sites are picking up that Batista will undergo surgery on Tuesday. Orton coming across so weak in the match though wasn't good.

Punk cashing in on MiTB will generate the kind of heel heat that is bad.... The only way this works is if Edge does a complete face turn.

Dreamer probably loses his title real soon.

They can always go back to Cena or HHH has the new Raw champ on monday if the rumors about Batista are true.

At least Punk is getting the main event push. Let's hope it works this time.

The video on WWE.com in which Joey Styles interviews Tommy Dreamer after his ECW Title match is so wonderful and heartfelt that I decided to transcribe it here for posterity. But a raw transcript can hardly do it justice-- check the video out for yourself. Both Tommy and Joey are fighting back tears of joy the entire interview.

Tommy Dreamer is wearing an ECW razor-blade-logo shirt and carrying the belt over his right shoulder; Joey Styles is wearing a black sport coat with red shirt.

Styles: I don't remember ever being this happy-- [Dreamer chuckles] to do an interview. You've waited nine years to be ECW Champion again, Tommy. How do you feel?

Dreamer: I promised myself I wouldn't cry out there. But not back here. I wanna thank... Beulah McGillicutty... for being there for me... she gave me the greatest gift, my daughters Kimberly and Brianna. Next to this, they're the most important thing in my life. This has been the hardest struggle of my life. And to see it come to fruition, it means everything to me. There're so many people I wanna thank, but I'll do it on... my blog thing... get you some hits... um... I know right now in the world it's tough, and every time you get knocked down, somehow, you gotta keep on fighting, and follow your dreams. And it's all about survival. And my only regret in my entire career is that you weren't the guy calling my match. [Dreamer puts his arm around Styles.] Thank you so much. I know we're supposed to call everybody out there part of the "WWE Universe", but you know... I call you all my family. [Dreamer taps the belt twice.] This is for you.

Just to be more specific, this seems to have come from PWInsider (on their premium site), and seemed to be reported prior to the show. Neither the Torch or the Observer have mentioned the injury, though they haven't denied it either.

Yeah. Hmm.

Dammit, every time I predict something in one of the predictions thread, I end up being a month early. First I was a month early on Hardy winning his first title, then on Punk cashing in on Hardy which I predicted for Judgement Day.

Is it time to tweak the MitB stips? It seems to be losing it's luster a little.

I would like them to make it a contract for a set date, like the Royal Rumble winner getting a title shot at WrestleMania. Summerslam is the obvious choice, though that seems like a long time between the MitB match and title match. But if guys like CM Punk, Edge (at the point in his career that he won it), etc, are going to keep winning, perhaps the extra time to build it would be a good thing.

I just know I'm already tired of the "Surprise~!" MitB winner cashes in after the champ just finished a match booking. When Edge did it, it was cool. I don't like it now.

      Hmm.

    Yeah. Hmm.

Yeah, I went "hmm" on that, myself. But the interview was genuinely emotional; it doesn't surprise me that, well, he screwed up.

By the way, Tommy Dreamer becomes the first wrestler to win the ECW Title both with ECW as its own separate promotion, and with ECW under the WWE banner. Even more tellingly, he's only the second person to win WWE's ECW Title who ever participated in the independent promotion, Rob Van Dam being the first.

It went from RVD to Big Show to Lashley to Vinnie Mac back to Lashley, then we had Johnny Nitro, CM Punk, Chavo Guerrero, Kane, Mark Henry, Matt Hardy, Jack Swagger, and Christian.

(And, as you can tell by reading the list, he's the first person to win the title for a second time since Lashley did it just over two years ago.)

Not that big a Batista fan, Monte. Just can't stand the Orton (overrated blankety-blank that he is!)

I'm from Philly, so Dreamer's got my heart here. Sure, the victory speech is overdone, and the tears are there, just like we expect, but he's the last bastion of ECW left in WWE. When he's gone - that's probaby it for the tribe.
80 - 90 - maybe 100% theatrics on the speech? Maybe, but that's Dreamer's character. That's what ECW fans have come to love and expect.
I'm thinking that after this win it won't be long until Dreamer's gone altogether. Maybe it's just a "goodbye to a good hand" kinda thing.
A couple of years ago, this event was One Night Stand. I was at the first two, and they were fun. After Paul E. got booted, it was crap. Dreamer winning? Yeah - that's how it should be! In fact, if they're considering getting rid of the brand altogether, he should be their last champ.

Just my opinion though, and I'm admittedly prejudiced.

I'm thinking maybe they'll have him come out and cut a promo where he expects a hero's welcome from the fans but they (hopefully) turn on him, causing him to turn on the fans and turn heel. He could call them hypocrites because they cheered him when he cashed in on Edge last year, but hate him for cashing in on Jeff. I wouldn't mind a Edge turn, maybe to just more of a tweener. I do believe that Punk cashing in on Hardy is a good sign that Hardy might be close to re-signing, as a Punk-Hardy feud could carry on through Summerslam. I think they would have just saved Punk cashing in for a different occasion otherwise.
