| #1 Posted on 22.4.09 1720.04 Reposted on: 22.4.16 1720.10 | One match still to be officially announced on Smackdown this week, so I won't put it in here yet.
World Championship Match: John Cena vs. Edge, Last Man Standing: Cena retains.
WWE Championship Match: Triple H & Shane McMahon & Batista vs. Randy Orton & Ted Dibiase & Cody Rhodes: Orton's team wins, possibly via Batista heel turn, leading to HHH and Batista feuding while Orton does his thing with the title.
ECW Championship: Jack Swagger vs. Christian: Christian gets the win and feuds with Kozlov.
Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy, I Quit Match: If the rumors about Jeff are true, he loses again here.
Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Steamboat: Jericho wins, and hopefully he can move on to something else.
CM Punk vs. Kane: Not sure when this was announced, but it's on dot com....oh, maybe this is the one announced on Smackdown this week? Well, the website has it, so I guess it's not really a spoiler. Punk better win. Promote this thread! | | used2bcool

Chris Jericho v Ricky Steamboat: I hoped for this match after Steamboat's performance at WM, and I got it. It should be entertaining and probably get some real heat, but Jericho has to win.
I Quit: Jeff Hardy v Matt Hardy: Matt wins again, and I Quit pretty much guarantees a clean win, to send him on his way to uber-heeldom; and Jeff on his way to...god knows where.
ECW Championship: Jack Swagger v Christian: For all the Peeps and all the fools, say it loud, Christian Rules! Swagger hasn't been in focus in some time, so I guess it's logical the title goes to Christian here.
WWE Championship - 6-Man Tag: Triple H, Batista, and Shane McMahon v Legacy: I HATE singles titles being defended in tag matches. But Legacy has to win here, or else Orton's uber-push will have gone to waste and he'll be left with just a smidgen of credibility.
World Heavyweight Championship: John Cena v Edge: Cena will retain, but look for Punk to cash in right away, since SmackDown has no World Title, and they're not likely to remain that way for too long. | oldschoolhero

Actually, it has.
Originally posted by wwe.com Raw’s new GM clarified that if anyone from Triple H’s team won the match, he would retain the title, but if Orton or his cohorts tasted victory, then The Legend Killer would become the new WWE Champion. Closer to Backlash, Guerrero also stipulated that Orton can still capture the title if his team wins by count-out or disqualification.

WWE Championship Match: Triple H & Shane McMahon & Batista vs. Randy Orton & Ted Dibiase & Cody Rhodes: I'll go with the incomparable geemoney's heel turn theory, but I'll say Shane makes the turn and sides with the Legacy. Orton pins Batista for the title.
ECW Championship: Jack Swagger vs. Christian: Christian deserves so much better than this. Swagger wins to keep his push going.
Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy, I Quit Match: Matt's got good heel charisma. He wins to set up a brief title program.
Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Steamboat: Steamboat wins via legendary shenanigans. Flair helps turn the tide and we get the uber-awesome Flair/Steamboat standing tall visual after the match.

I was about to say! I mean, they only spent the last two weeks building it up that Shane, HHH, and Batista are hotheads who might get DQ'd so they'd have to be careful. That was the entire point to the Shane/HHH discussion on Monday where HHH said he'd get all his anger out that night so he'd be more in control at Backlash.
I'm intrigued by geemoney's Batista turn thought. I've wondered from the start if that's the way they were going to go. For the life of me I can't remember how Orton storyline-injured Batista. A kick to the head, correct? Was it during a match or after? If during a match, they can always spin it as Orton doing whatever it takes to win. I mean, it's not like HHH didn't doublecross Batista as well in the past. I was a little surprised that Orton didn't try to play that up in the build -- comment on all the things that happened between HHH and Batista and ask if they could REALLY trust each other.
Predictions: -Punk over Kane -Jericho over Steamboat with a pretty bad beating thrown in -Jeff Hardy; I think Smackdown needs a strongish face more than Raw needs a strongish heel -Christian -Orton wins title. Not sold on a heel turn; there are certainly options for that, though -Edge. I'm not sure they'd want to keep both titles on Raw another month, nor do a cross-brand Orton-Punk match for Backlash, so I think Edge needs to win to take the title back to Smackdown and face Punk in Chicago. Nice faceoff between the two men who've most benefited from MITB. -Oh, and Santina takes tongue. | Oliver

Triple H & Shane McMahon & Batista vs. Randy Orton & Ted Dibiase & Cody Rhodes: Orton's team wins it..maybe a new member to Legacy debuts, too?
ECW Championship: Jack Swagger vs. Christian: End this feud already! It was exciting before Wrestlemania, but when it reappeared after WM, I lost interest. I call Christian winning this.
Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy, I Quit Match: They gotta give him one win, right? I say Jeff Hardy wins this.
Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Steamboat: Steamboat, because he's awesome.
CM Punk vs. Kane: I'm thinking Kane. If for any other reason....Money In The Bank: Will it be cashed? I think so...but it'd be fun to see Punk go 'tweener and pin Cena after his match against Edge. | R-Dub

Cena.
Triple H/Shane/Batista v Orton/Dibiase/Rhodes:
Hunter's team. Too many stipulations in Orton's favor makes me believe Hunter's team will win.
ECW Championship: Jack Swagger v Christian:
Swagger. I don't think they are high on Christian or he would have won sooner.
Jeff v Matt - I Quit Match: Matt. I am torn between Jeff getting his win back and Matt getting the win, but Jeff getting all the glory for taking the beating of a lifetime and continuing to get up. Jeff never says "I Quit", but the referee stops it. I'll go with the latter. Matt wins, but Jeff comes out smelling like a rose.
Jericho v Steamboat:
Steamboat. He probably gets help, although I don't think he needs it.
CM Punk v Kane:
Punk. I don't see how this match will be any good.
You know, I don't buy pay per views, but if I normally did, I wouldn't buy this one. In my view, this PPV only has two matches I am interested in, Jericho/Steamboat and Jeff/Matt. The rest I could do without. And I think Punk/Kane will stink on ice. And if Cena and Triple H both lose on the same PPV, I will be shocked.

I wouldn't expect it to be great, but they did have a decent ***-ish 15 minute match on ECW last year. If they could do that again it would be a nice addition to the card.
Punk wins to begin his build-up to challenge for the title at Judgement Day.
Swagger vs. Christian-Swagger retains. Isn't the Tommy Dreamer win the title or retire storyline about ready to ramp up? Wasn't it he wanted to win it by One Night Stand(or whatever they call it now) or retire?
Jeff vs. Matt-Jeff wins to blow-off the feud. Matt still could claim winning the feud by number of victories which is what a good heel would do. I'm not buying this Jeff Hardy leaving thing.
Jericho vs. Steamboat-Jericho wins in a good 10 minute match. Then cuts a promo calling out any more legends who want to take him on. GONG. Lets get that long awaited Taker/Jericho feud going.
Team McMahon vs. Team Orton and his pet jobbers-Orton wins by some turn or shenanigans of some sort. Couldn't have him job the title in a clean way now could they!? Hopefully there'll be a fresh title feud after this for Orton but I have a feeling it'll be a 3-way for the title between HHH/Batista/Orton with Cena thrown it at some point.
Cena vs. Edge-Edge wins clean as a sheet in a great battle.

Matthew over Jeffrey, and hopefully the match is okay.
Christian over Swagger, and clean as a sheet too.
Jericho over Steamboat seems to be the only option here.
Cena retains the title in a hard fought match, then Punk comes in, GTS'es him twice, wins the title, spits on Cena, then GTS'es Edge for the hell of it.
