Here's a link to their web site... http://www.xpwrestling.com/index2.htm
I'm pretty sure that I can't convince my girlfriend to go on such short notice... I noticed they have a challenge to wrestling journalists. If we have someone in attendance, I'd really like to recommend they take notes and write up a review for the board (I'd say for slash, but its not my site and I don't want to make any promises for CRZ).
Anyway - I'm curious to see what people think of their product. This is up in Los Angeles, right?

Hm... I had a friend in Fresno who wanted to go check this out a long time ago. I doubt this weekend would work out for that, but maybe in the future.
I'm a bit concerned that they still have $30 tickets for the third row available a day before the event... but then again, I bought my WOW PPV tickets 5 days before the event and still got floor seats...

I suppose with enough notice I could drive down there...and we could just leave PFunk at home. ;-) Man, I just KNOW that XPW isn't good enough for me to plan a weekend around them, though. Still, if I'd heard about this "challenge..." say, LAST week...naaah, I was really much too sick to commit to ANYTHING.
Hey but now that I'm on the onlineonslaught.com team, I'm sure XPW will be MORE than interested in me, right? Yaaaaaaaaaaaaha

| #8 Posted on 11.1.02 2339.49 Reposted on: 12.1.09 0021.52 | If I were in that part of the world I'd check it out. But I'm sure... there are probably Indy events that have better wrestling than XPW that weekend anyway. As far as their challenge to writers, well I'm sure, some will show up so they better put on something halfway deceant. Although they are full of hacks, has beens and never weres. I'm just not seeing *it* yet though. XPW keeps claiming they are going to prove the doubters wrong, but I still doubt. When ECW was young they were full of garbage but they had guys that could put on good matches. They were also trying to be something new, where XPW is trying to be them. I know XPW fans would disagree, but that's a fact. I want an alternative to the WWF, but I don't think XPW is going to be it...at least for me. This is a promotion that burned a guy to a crisp because they had people setting up stunts that don't know what they are doing. Now they are making a big joke about it. Is it classless? Yes. Is it offensive to me? No. Then what is it? I'm not sure, but I find it worth mentioning. Maybe someday I will see what *it* is and become a fan. Maybe the wrestlers will get better. The garbage will be less. The announcers will improve. For now though I'll pass.

| #11 Posted on 12.1.02 0551.28 Reposted on: 12.1.09 0555.10 | I'm going to an indy show in L.A. tomorrow, but it ain't XPW. It's actually an absurdly tiny fed called Millenium Pro, and it's your basic cast of California-based indy guys (Chris Daniels unless he's still hurt, Samoa Joe, Super Dragon, Spanky, various other guys you've not heard of unless you follow local indy stuff). More or less, these are the young unknown guys who will be putting on the good solid (if not overheaddroppy at times) wrestling, while XPW is doing the various things that make them Porn-funded wrestling.
As for the Fire Table Incident Thing, I guess I can be of some assistance, as I happened to decide on a whim once to recap one of their shows two weeks after the incident (the shows only play out around here), where they showed it about four times, including a multi-angle montage that set off a recap package to the Tune of "Bodies", weeks before it would teach us all to hate the WWF's production staff.
Anyhoo, if memory serves, it was a match between Kaos and Supreme, but Supreme is the main guy in this. They were setting up a spot where Supreme was about to get powerbombed off the turnbuckle through a table to the mat, but to make it extreme (Xtreme?), valet Veronica Caine (who I believe has sex for money as a day job) sprayed down the table with a Whole Lot of lighter fluid. None actually on Supreme, but he sure wasn't wearing anything flame-retardant. The table was set on fire, and Supreme sent through it, catching on fire, and very much so.
Here's where it gets morbidly amusing: Supreme, back engulfed, decides to eschew the Traditional Stop Drop and Roll method in favor of the Flail Arms and Run out of the Ring. The people in charge of putting out the fire decide the most critical area is not with Supreme, now outside the ring, but with the table inside the ring, which they put out BEFORE tending to the still-on-fire Supreme. They finally take care of him, after a whole ordeal of about 10 or 20 seconds. Supreme suffered at least some second-degree burns, and I'd wager some third-degree, but I'm not sure fully. He was out for a while, and his injury was relived Over and Over for the next few weeks, with Caine and whichever wrestlers she was with mocking the incident in porn-quality skits.
XPW is an indy. Not even near a serious threat. The only analogous comparison I could make would be to CZW. XPW will often have some of the ex-WCW guys like Juvi and Nicho show up, but I assure you their best stuff on TV comes on Galavision Tuesdays. Same with Vampiro and Konnan and whichever of the WCW-castoff feds. But obviously. There's no one on a level of Santo to work with in XPW, and they know full well they can half-ass it anyway.
But hey, tickets are still available.

And I think that was around when you took a bigass absence from the chat. Of course, last week I took my own bigass absence from the chat, so there was that, too.
Besides, the Rumble is in a week anyway. I can tell you about how much fun I had then. EMOTICON. My quick notes are in the Update.
And the only thing I heard about the XPW show today was that they still hadn't announced any matches until bell time, and that at 11:00 they were in intermission with three matches left to go. We were pretty much done.
Chris-Saw someone use a giant cardboard dreidel to bash someone else in the head. XPW couldn't top that if they tried.
