One trade so far:
To Ottawa: G Pascal Leclaire, 2009 second round pick To Columbus: F Antoine Vermette
Not a bad deal for either team. Ottawa gets another goalie to try out, while Columbus gets someone who eventually could become a consistent Top 6 Forward. Promote this thread! | | kwik

| #2 Posted on 4.3.09 1038.12 Reposted on: 4.3.16 1038.13 | Ollie Jokkinen to Calgary seems to be firing up, but it probably won't get going until after noon, when we find out who made it through waivers.
The Ottawa trade confuses me, Leclaire is still out, and probably will be for the rest of the season. Ottawa's been the black hole for goaltending though, no one seems to be stepping it up, at any level, and any little success seems to bring a cry to get the guy up to Ottawa, so let's see if Jeff Glass or Mitch O'Keefe gets a shot up there this year. | Big Bad

Some people in Canada give a damn about things other than the trade deadline.

| #4 Posted on 4.3.09 1717.39 Reposted on: 4.3.16 1717.50 | I caught the TradeCentre (or TradeCentral) or whatever it's called on THE SCORE - I thought the presentation was good, though it was hard to keep track of things with two tickers running, a live window, and a side panel that showed the teams, their cap and available space, what the team needs or is looking for, and available unrestricted/restricted free agents. Afterward, the trades and/or signings were run through.
Kinda confusing, but I guess if someone's used to watching BNN or CP24 (here in Ontario) or Bloomberg in the US, then it was no sweat.
One question: since Vesa Toskala is on IR for the rest of the season, does that mean Joseph is their number one goalie, or does that position go to either Martin Gerber or Olaf Kolzig?

Seconded. It would have been nice for them to take a break to do an update on everything else sports-related.

Kolzig is also out for the season, so it won't be him. I'm thinking they go with Gerber, because Joseph's been horrible this season when he has played.
Calgary were definitely the big winners, picking up Jokinen and Leopold while already having a very strong team to begin with. I don't like how today went down if I'm the Wings or Sharks.
Several of my friends that are Leafs fans think Antropov should have commanded a first-rounder, but I think what they got for him is fair.
I think Recchi was a great pick-up for Boston: small salary, proven playoff performer, very consistent, brings experience to the team, and still puts up respectable numbers. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
