- The show opens with Teddy Long providing a recap of the Matt Hardy turn. Long says he's released Hardy to go attend to his business at SmackDown. While I like the idea of moving a potential big-money feud to the bigger show (SmackDown), this makes Long look like an incompetent fool. Why would you agree to give up your biggest bonafide star? In any case, Jack Swagger interrupts to put himself over. He plans a celebration tonight, but Boogeyman interrupts him, so he bolts. That leads to...
The Boogeyman v Ricky Ortiz never happened. Well, thank god for that. Ortiz comes out to say that all you need is a rally towel in order to get reactions, as opposed to eating worms. He then decks Boogeyman and takes a walk. No bell, so no match. I have no idea what that was supposed to be.
- Backstage, Jack tells Teddy that he's lost his title and can't find it. What an idiot. Teddy instructs Tiffany to help him, much to Jack's chagrin.
Match 2: Finlay over Paul Burchill via Celtic Cross in 4 and a half minutes. This would be way better with less Hornswoggle and more time.
- Backstage, Tiff and Ortiz bond. Jack comes in to take her away to help him with the search, so Ortiz shoots him dirty looks.
- Elsewhere, Jack the Searcher and Tiffany the Helper run into Mark the Strongman and Tony the Manager. Mark tells Jack that if Mark took the title, Jack would do nothing about it. That wipes the smile off Jack's face, but indeed he does nothing about it.
Match 3: Mark Henry over Tommy Dreamer via World's Strogest Slam in 5 and a half minutes. I liked how this was going, and another 3-4 minutes wouldn't have hurt. I hope Dreamer gets a decent run with his farewell angle.
- Backstage, Teddy promises to solve Jack's problems right now. They take it to the ring, and Jack looks suitably pissed. Teddy strangely calls himself a "third-grade teacher." He promises that there'd be no repercussions if the title is returned right away. Finlay comes out to tell Hornswoggle to give Jack his title back. Swagger says he knows Finlay put Horny up for this. He continues pushing Finlay's buttons, and then crosses the line when he tries to put his hands on Horny, so Finlay decks him with the Title. Looks like Finlay is the new challenger for the ECW belt.
- End Show.
Wrestling Counter: 10 minutes.
** I'm a big fan of ECW, but this show was utter shit. It brought little to the plate. While I'm interested in Swagger-Finlay based on the chemistry they had in the #1 contender's match a few weeks ago, the Jack-loses-his-title setup was stupid, as was the Ortiz/Boogeyman mess. And I'm tired of seeing Hornswoggle and happy-go-lucky Finlay. When can we have our no-nonsense, asskicking Irishman back? Promote this thread! | | BigDaddyLoco

Guys like Brian Kendrick, The Hurricane or MVP would be nice, but I'll settle for someone like R-Truth just because there really is nobody on there anymore. | Tenken347

Finley ought to be pretty fun, although they really need to get some more talent on this show. After Finley, they've set up a title program for Tommy Dreamer, but after that, nothing. I suppose they might go ahead and give the belt to Dreamer and put some more heels into the title picture, but again, who? Swagger's the only one of their new guys with enough polish to carry the brand (even if it is a brand for new guys). Ortiz and DJ Gabriel aren't even kind of ready for the main event. I guess they might do another draft after Wrestlemania; that would solve a lot of these problems. | Spiraling_Shape

But as always, Matt Striker's Random Reference of the Night stood out. He quoted Dave Matthews Band early in the show: "Celebrate we will, for life is short but sweet for certain." | used2bcool

Yeah, of the current crop of faces, Dreamer seems to be the most capable of carrying the brand. I don't want to see the ECW belt on happy-go-lucky Finlay anyway, because it does nothing for ECW in the long run. They need a new face champion, and Dreamer seems to fit the bill. Plus, they can have that Dreamer-chases-title-to-win-it-on-the-final-show scenario along the lines of Kevin Steen's promise of capturing gold in ROH. And it'll provide for a special moment if he does win it. | CRZ

You're right, of course. I have no idea why I wrote that. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
