Once Jericho beat Punk, and we were told Steph and Orton were next, I turned off the TV. Orton, as much as I enjoy him in the ring, still has no business on the mic, holding court, and trying to sell anything with his character. He has no hook. He's drab. Same for Legacy. Great idea. Soft execution. It does nothing for me. Nor does the idea of Shane bouncing off turnbuckles for 20 minutes.
I AM curious to see how JBL handles Shawn's loss.

A bit strange he would be announced so early though. If Flair is used, I would have had Rourke revealing in the coming weeks that Flair was helping him train for the match.
With Vince apparently 'hating' the movie, I'm a little surprised he'd want Rourke in. But of course, money talks, and I'm more than happy to see a Jericho-Rourke match at 'Mania.

Boy, you can say that again. I do believe he said he won the Royal Rumble, "proving that I am more superior than everyone in this company". I mean, that is right up there with "I the real Brock Lesnar is unstoppable."

Heh, yeah, tell that to Jesse Ventura, the Ultimate Warrior, The World Wildlife Fund, and Owen Hart's widow. What're they, like 1-4 in major trials?

As it happens, Aaron Aronofsky claims that Vince actually told him he found the film quite touching. Believe I read that on the Torch, but too lazy to provide a link. So yeah.
Now, needless profanity is not my thing, at least lately, but re: the end of the show, seriously, what in the name of all sweet sopping wet FUCK was that shit? Do all the McMahons have an obsessive need to put themselves over unconvincingly at the expense of the talent? This week just killed the hell out of that. From the opening part with IED and therapists to getting his ass handed to him by Shane...he's back to being Randall Q. Orton, guy I mostly ignore.

| #47 Posted on 28.1.09 1603.01 Reposted on: 28.1.16 1603.13 | Oh, wonderful. We start off with lawyers & threatening lawsuits. That's what I want to see on a wrestling show. Even if we suspend disbelief about whether the workers are, in plotline, employees or contractors, that whole nonsense about "you knew I had this condition & you didn't do anything about it", is ridiculous. Is Randy on the antidepressants & lithium that he should be, to keep from acting out on this disorder? If he wasn't before, is he now, that he's committed assault & battery? The phrase "a danger to himself or others" is the key phrase. At this point, now that he's demonstrated that he can't manage his medical condition, the "do anything about it" would involve suspension on medical leave.
Naturally all of this plotline would have been derailed if Randy had immediately been "suspended pending review", & not allowed to compete in the RR at all. But we just opted to hang out for a week, doing nothing. Oh, yeah -- that's the way that a publicly-traded corporation headed by a hot-headed family would handle this situation. (I'd assumed that the only reason to allow Randy to compete would be to set him up for a severe beat-down during the RR match.)
OK, so all this isn't bad enough. Randy is screaming "Fire me" in Steph's face -- not exactly demonstrating his wellness to fulfill his work duties -- & threatening to shut down WrestleMania -- as though that would be a fait accompli. A bunch of the wrestlers wander out ... to do absolutely nothing. Not a one of them even thinks to chip in a counter-claim of "Unsafe workplace" ?!?!? Thus getting Randy suspended. No, they're just there to take up space.
No, we're going to launch the rocket science plan, whereby Shane runs out & commits assault & battery on 3 employees. Not only on national television, but right in front of Randy's lawyers. We should have had a camera guy get a shot of the lawyers frantically scribbling down all the additional lawsuit grounds based on Shane's unprovoked attack. All of which Steph could have avoided by , quick like a bunny, making a "streetfight" match between Shane & Randy.
Stupid is bad. (Ref the Shawn Michaels plotline.) Stupid & annoying is much worse.
