The Quick and Dirty for ECW #134 on 12.30.2008. The show prior to this (#133) was a recap show, for those who are wondering about the episode numbering.

- ECW kicks off with The Dirt Sheet, with John Morrison and The Miz proclaiming to be the greatest tag team of the 21st century. They make their new year's resolutions, and Morrison's is to grow "11 or 12 abs." Each of them vows to win the Rumble, resulting in a minor dispute. Then speculate about other people's goals, giving them an excuse to rip on said people. Apparently, Batista's goal will be to wear a helmet to the ring. That would be quite amusing, actually. They rail on Finlay and his midget son, prompting them to come out. That leads to a beatdown, before Hornswoggle runs under the ring and the Boogeyman makes the save. Ugh.

Non-Title: Matt Hardy over Mark Henry via DQ after Swagger-ference in 10:05. An okayish match that did no favors to either of the participants. I guess Matt has a new challenger. Mizark is, rightfully, rather pissed.

- Kizarny vows to be on SmackDown this week. I didn't understand about 60% of his promo. I bet he'll beat MVP in his debut match.

DJ Gabriel over Paul Burchill via Jackknife Pin in 5:28. Wow, a Paul Burchill sighting! More importantly, a Katie Lea sighting! Woot! Anyway, the match was boring, and the crowd sat on its hands, probably drooling at the ladies because that was the only attraction on view.

- Backstage, Boogeyman eats worms. Hornswoggle runs around. ECW is hellbent on breaking its good-show streak.

Non-title, No-DQ: John Morrison and The Miz over Finlay and The Boogeyman when Morrison rolled up Finlay 5:58. Post match, the faces beat on the heels. Finlay gets the Celtic Cross.

- End Show.

Wrestling Counter: 22 minutes.

** A pretty sad show going into the new year. Miz and Morrison can be pretty hit-and-miss, and tonight it was a miss. I HATE THE BOOGEYMAN WITH A FIERY PASSION. The main event got 6 minutes and was more a comedy match than anything else. Finlay needs to turn on the little guy soon.

I'm with you on the Boogeyman. I just turn the chanel whenver he's on the screen. I liked the Hardy/Henry match, though. I thought it was the best match between the two of them that I've seen. Matt Hardy was doing a champion job of selling the big-man offense, and even Mark Henry was pulling his weight - both putting up a credible offense and selling pretty good when Hardy was on the advantage. Considering how much I was enjoying the match, I was pretty pissed off about the finish, though.

It's almost like they're determined to keep Henry in play and make the next ECW PPV match a three way dance - sorry, triple threat match. So is the Hardy/Swagger one on one match being "saved for later," or is there a lack of confidence in one or both of Hardy and Swagger to pull off a one on one match on the big show?

The segment with the Burchill/Gabriel match felt like it was about 45 minutes long.

That's all I got.

DJ Gabriel is supposed to be a face right? Seems more like a heel with his awful dancing.

Can someone look up how many times we've seen Hardy/Henry in the time since Hardy was drafted to RAW? Cause it seems as if its been about every week. And if it isn't those two its Henry/Finlay. One of the problems with ECW is that the roster is so small you see a lot of repeat matches. Hurry back Evan!

Yeah, I remember in the spoilers I read for the show that they said the Burchill/Gabriel match was extremely boring, and they were right. Anyone remember when Paul and Katie were in a decent push for the IC and Womens titles? With Paul I understand, as I find him boring, but its unfair to punish Katie with jobberdom because Paul sucks.

I really don't know what Gabriel is, but at least him being on the show gets Alicia Fox on the show as well.

Oh, don't get me wrong - I think it's FANtastic that you're willing to endure five minutes of a DJ Gabriel match in order to see Alicia Fox... pantomime pulling an imaginary rope attached to his leg.

Hey, maybe there are MILLIONS of potential viewers like you out there and this is just the shot in the arm that'll cause ECW's ratings to soar!

You forgot Morrison suggesting that Triple H needs a "nasal douche" ... That really kind of came out of left field; I thought WWE didn't allow its wrestlers to use language like that anymore.

And two things about the Boogeyman:

1) For some reason, the fact that he now has teeth makes him look even more ridiculous; seriously, it makes his face look all elongated and weird, like they got a totally different wrestler to portray the character or something.

2) Am I mistaken, or was he humming the theme song to the Smurfs at one point?

I think that's what he was humming to the worm he was about to eat. *shiver*
