- The show opens with Matt Striker and T-Grish congratulating Jeff Hardy on his title win, prompting Matt Hardy to come out. Matt's happy for his brother and says he always knew that they both had it in them to be successful singles wrestlers. He promises a celebration on SmackDown on friday. That brings out Chavo Guerrero, who's here to take Matt out since he helped Jeff steal the title from Edge. Teddy Long comes out to make the title match, right now! He then goes off on Vickie's weight in a funny moment, telling her to lay off the Christmas cookies.
ECW Title: Matt Hardy over Chavo Guerrero via Twist of Fate in about 10 mins. It wasn't quite as good as their previous stuff, but still pretty ok. My big gripe was that Chavo's extended arm work went nowhere due to that sudden finish.
Match 2: Finlay over Gavin Spears via Celtic Cross in about 4 mins. This was an extended squash. That's about all there is to it.
- Elsewhere, DJ Gabriel and Alicia Fox dance around. Gabe really can't dance. Mark Henry is the World's Strongest Santa and Tony Atlas has a Rudolph nose on. Mark sings for us, which is probably enough to give little kids quite a few sleepless nights.
- Elsewhere, Tiffany welcomes CM Punk and Kofi Kingston, set to be in action today. Ricky Ortiz comes in to hit on her, presenting her with a rally towel. Punk gets in the line of the night, saying it's a better gift than "a car or an XFL jersey." Encouraged by this, Ortiz gives towels to Punk and Kofi.
Match 3: John Morrison, The Miz, and Jack Swagger over CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, and Ricky Ortiz when Swagger pinned Ortiz with the Gutwrench Powerbomb in about 11 mins. It was a nice long match, featuring some of my favorite performers on ECW, but something was not clicking. At least they went with the logical decision of having Ortiz take the pin.
- End show.
Wrestling Counter: 25 minutes.
**A fairly solid ECW show, albeit with little storyline advancement. I'm wondering where Matt Hardy's going, since he has no challenger for the title. Finlay and Mizark are done feuding, and thus free. Tonight's show, while okay in the ring, felt directionless. Let's hope creative picks up the reigns by next week. I could also stand to see Mark Henry DESTROY Ortiz and Gabriel in a 2 on 1 match. This show might also be a good place for a Raw vs. SD Diva feud. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
