Was it not just harsh to see Raffy whack three homers at Wrigley?

Jeez, those 450 homers could've been Cubs homers...

Ahh, but did you read the article by "Iforgothisfirstname" Rogers in the Trib this week? Boiled down, if we had kept Raffy, we likely wouldn't have traded for Sammy.

I think I'll take Sammy.

As to your question, though, yes, they would have looked lovely in Cubbie pinstripes.

I don't know if it is true, but I read a rumor somewhere that one of the reasons they traded Palmeiro is that he was fooling around with Ryne Sandberg's wife..

The funny thing is that, when they traded him, they basically said it was because he lacked power. (As I recall, he hit like eight homers his first year.)

The doubly funny thing is that the guy they basically went with instead was Mark Grace, who, although a good player, usually struggled to meet the bare minimum power-hitting requirements for a first baseman.

It's pretty common knowledge that about 50% of the National League was fooling around with Ryno's then-wife. IIRC, didn't Ryno then divorce wife #2 after he cheated on her? Ironic, huh?
