Great game, though.

Damn those rat bastards and their unintentional hand balls. Kahn was the difference maker. Any other goalie would've let at least two of Donovan's shots in. Well here's to 2006.

I hate to say this, but I'm actually happy the US lost.

I may have a very skewed way of looking at the world, but I think the more success the US has at a international sports event, the greater the likelihood for some kind of terrorist incident.

I mean, if the US made it to the finals of the World Cup, where "we don't belong since we hate soccer," isn't that just the kind of thing that would motiavte an already unbalanced mind to "get revenge" on the Great Satan?

I had a feeling that the difference in this match would have been Kahn. He's only let in one goal in 5 matches so far. I'm thinking a Brazil-Germany final.

On the other side, I hope you USA'ers are proud of your guys-I sat in amazement at their attacking ability. Football in America has come a long way in a short time. Hopefully the success this year will grow interest in the sport in the next short while.

And hopefully, some of the success will rub off on Canada. Probably not, though...

And next World Cup, get Mia Hamm to dress like a guy(like the movie "Just One Of The Guys")!

It was frustrating as hell having to sit here at my desk and count on ESPN GameCast and CNNSI for live updates - look out for 2006 (where are they playing that one ?)

Still hoping for a Senegal-South Korea Final

I think the 2006 World Cup will be in Germany, but don't quote me on that. At least the games will be on at a reasonable time if they are. Good thing there are no more 11:25 pt starts, but I finally figured out a decent way to catch the Brazil-England game *and* the US-Germany game by catching a few Z's before the first game then going back to bed and getting up for the second game, which was only about 30 minutes before I usually get out of bed anyway. Too bad both of my teams lost...Kahn is the MAN for his stops on Donovan in the first half.

I gave up and called in sick. I was going to go to work today, but I only slept for about 2 hours last night between the Inglaterra / Brasil match and the US / Germany match.

Let's hope in four years our intrepid sports broadcasting companies will have developed some decent soccer commentators.

Jack "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory" Edwards must GO.

So, now it's down to Brazil, Germany, the Senegal/Turkey winner, and the South Korea/other team winner.

The US looked really, really good today. It's too bad they couldn't get one of the early chances to go!!!

Kahn is the best goalie I have seen in a long while...

Kahn won that game for Germany, as they had virtually no offense, and their defense was only worth while when they had all 11 in the backfield to save the lead.

It would've been *so* worth it for the US to have won just so Jack Edwards' head would've exploded and they would've left his smoldering, headless carcass right in that announce booth forever. Man, listening to him after listening to J.P. and Tommy (mmm - Tommy Smyth) do England-Brazil was like listening to Michael Cole do SmackDown two hours after RAW with Jim Ross.

Coincidentally, I have been known to refer to Jack Edwards as "The Michael Cole of Soccer Commentary" when chatting during games.

That might have been the best game US Soccer has EVER played and they lost. That being said that game proved to the world (and ourselves) that the boys from America can finally play this game. My only question for 2006 is how old is Brad Friedel? Donovan will just be entering his prime, as will Beasley, McBride won't even be "old" yet, we're gonna have a damn good team, but if we don't have a goaltender, it won't matter. And if it's not Friedel, who's next? Zack Thorton?

Those are actual questions by the way, I don't know the answers, figure someone on here might be able to help me out.

As for Jack Edwards, at least he wasn't pretending to be unbiased, I hate that. I mean it's so obvious anyway, so just show the bias, I mean 95% of the ESPN viewing audience had to be rooting for the U.S. anyway. I doubt the German announcers on the German broadcast weren't Germany-biased.
