| #1 Posted on 30.8.08 0003.13 Reposted on: 30.8.15 0004.51 | My computer crashed last night in the MIDDLE of trying to type this very post - I don't think there's a connection there, but still. Luckily, they were able to do a full data recovery which apparently includes Firefox passwords -- good thing, because it turns out that I have no idea what my current password here is!
In related news, I won't be here next week -- please start the party without me. (I'm sure that "party" is not at all overstating things.)
Awesome Kong vs. Sojourner Bolt: Bolt is Josie (onlineworldofwrestling.com) from Shimmer, now named after, I guess, Usain Bolt and Sojourner Truth. (She also showed up for Kong's Fan Challenge.) I wonder if the name change is an indication that they're thinking about picking her up.
Kong wins, of course. (Also, Raisha Saeed looks like she came straight here from the "Cats" furry party.) ODB comes out (crowd: "Yaaaaayyyyyyy!") to save Bolt from a beatdown and she goes NUTS on Kong -- Kong actually flees in a bit of a panic.
Sheik Abdul Bashir & Petey Williams vs. Consequences Creed and Jay Lethal: Bashir's entrance theme features the sound of...falling missiles? Airplanes? Um. Bashir and Williams don't get along and this match is just an excuse to show that. Creed pushes Bashir into Williams, allowing Williams to get pinned by Lethal with a roll-up (the official finishing move of the X Division!).
Bashir and Williams brawl afterward -- I sense a three-way at No Surrender (September 14 on Pay Per View!)
Karen Angle talks to Abyss -- skip, duh.
Jimmy Rave vs. Curry Man: Rave actually gets some offense in, but falls victim the the Spice Rack. Afterward, Lance Rock comes out, as do Super Eric and Shark Boy. This is leading up to a tag match, obviously.
Jim Cornette makes Traci Brooks the boss of the Knockouts Division. Brooks immediately threatens Lauren's job.
I cannot figure out where Booker is supposed to be from now. Ghana?
Kevin Nash vs. Kurt Angle: This is a qualifying match for the Four Ways to Glory match at No Surrender. Samoa Joe is out to do commentary. Nash is a little better than I was expecting, but criminey. I don't know whether to laugh or commend his selling when he slooowly limps across the ring, leans gingerly against the ropes and then slooowly limps back again.
Nash slaps Joe for some reason -- tough love, I guess -- and Joe gets up and goes the the apron. Nash is distracted and takes a low blow and an Angle Slam and that's it.
SoCal Val tells Lauren that Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt can fight over her -- they'll hang her engagement ring over the (wrestling) ring and whoever gets it...gets her! Wow. You've come a long way, baby.
The Beautiful People vs. Roxxi and Taylor Wilde: The Beautiful People have their new valet, Kip James, with them. This match is alright. The Beautiful People pin Roxxi with a Bicycle Kick/Russian Leg Sweep combo.
Afterward, they and Kip go after Roxxi -- Rhino makes the save and it looks like we'll be getting Kip vs. Rhino. I think last week I said that this was a good use for Kip but I didn't realize they were going to have him wrestle again.
Sting is out and he cuts what sound to me like a pretty babyface promo about how he paved and others paved the way for upstarts like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. Crowd is definitely on his side, cheering when he calls Booker a "legend."
Styles is out -- Sting hands him the baseball bat and turns around. Styles goes after him but Sting Death Drops Styles and leaves him lying. If I didn't know better I'd say it looks like they're going to make the old guys the faces and the young guys the heels. Good -- that worked so well last time.

Ah, in that case, the intention is for the old guys to be heels. The way they are booking it, it will fail miserably. | Big Bad

| #6 Posted on 30.8.08 1411.32 Reposted on: 30.8.15 1412.40 | The problem is that Sting is a terrible heel. He's been a face for virtually his entire career, save for that brief three-week heel turn against Hulk Hogan in 1999, and even then he was cheered since WCW fans weren't going to boo their icon in favor of Hogan.
It's also not a good sign that this angle is building to the return of the dullest wrestler ever, Jeff Jarrett. | Karlos the Jackal

Ah, I see what you mean. Yeah, I mean I guess the idea is that the old guys are heels, but I don't think it's going to work if it goes on like this. Sting's promo may have been "mean," but being delivered by perpetual-babyface-icon Sting -- who hasn't really had a "heel turn" as such -- in front of a crowd who is cheering him on -- it just doesn't really come off the way I guess they want it to.
And, yeah, if it's leading up to Jeff Jarrett, of all people, returning to be the leader of the New New Blood, then -- I find that a little boggling. Jarrett vs. Sting -- who do you think the cowd is going to turn on?

-Sting's promo was absolutely AWESOME.
-What happened to Kip James? From an Outlaw, to calling out Vince McMahon, to being a fashion consultant?
-ODB is very, very fun to watch, but I can't say the same about the Beautiful People.
-Curry Man is absolutely HILARIOUS...he cracks me up to no end.
-Creepy moment: Abyss reading poetry to Karen Angle. Cute but creepy. :) | Psycho Penguin

I agree on Sting's promo. It was the most effective thing he has done in ages. Kip James needs to be fired. I have no idea what appeal he has left at this point and he's been doing the same stuff for 10 years or so. I disagree on ODB and Beautiful People, what's so good about ODB? Her promos are sick. In a bad way.
Abyss's poem was epic, anyone remember it well enough to transcribe? I loved one line in it in particular. I think it had to do with roses and violets. | Oliver

As per request:
Karen, your skin is golden Your eyes are brown I could take you with me But you can't make a sound
Not a cry, not a whisper Not a even a peep Like a pool of blood, a lot of blood My love is so deep
Oh, Ms. Angle, I can be your teddy bear But just for now, accept this gift...my hair.
