| #1 Posted on 11.1.02 1009.20 Reposted on: 11.1.09 1124.05 | I was shocked - SHOCKED - the first time I heard "All I Ever Wanted" on DJ Kenny's college radio show and he told me it was a 2001 release. WHY THE HELL ARE THE "ALTERNATIVE" STATIONS SO GODDAM BUSY WITH LIMP BIZKIT AND THEIR ILK WHEN THERE'S GREAT "NEW WAVE" THEY COULD BE ADDING TO THE PLAYLIST HMMMMM??? Oh, sorry, lots of capital letters there.
ANYWAY the Human League sound of 2001 is so close to the Human League sound of 1981 (and I believe it was required for everybody in the UK of a certain age to HAVE a "Dare" LP *somewhere* in their flat) that you're left wondering just what the hell they were thinking back in the late 80s and 90s to put out the crap - well, "crap" is a little strong - STUFF they'd put out when they still had it in them to sound so much like....like THEMSELVES, the Human League I knew and loved, instead of being busy trying to catch the latest craze/sound/genre and incorporate it into the latest Human League album. Listening to "All I Ever Wanted" makes me want to go punch them for "I Need Your Lovin'," for instance.
So! I'm telling YOU! If you liked "Dare," go buy "Secrets." It is awesomely awesome, and I'm not just saying that because I'm old and nostalgic. I'm not THAT old and nostalgic YET. (I hope.)

They're on The Hit Label/Papillion Records (a division of the Chrysalis Group) in the UK, under license to ARK21 in America. Go visit their site and click down to "Human League" to get a free snippet of "All I Ever Wanted!"

Thanks for the heads-up! Human League sounds like Human League again!
PS - Wasn't there another song by this name by some other electronic-like band in the 80s or 90s? It's stuck in my head. OMD?

It's a pretty deep voiced singer
"All I ever I wanted, all I ever needed was you.. in my life" is the line stuck in my head. It's probably not the name of the song, but it's still stuck in my head, dammit.
I am sure I will think of it soon, unless someone else can jog my brain.

| #7 Posted on 12.1.02 1838.00 Reposted on: 12.1.09 1856.16 | After a quick search on Yahoo!, I come across these possibilities:
* "Enjoy The Silence" by Depeche Mode ("All I ever wanted, all I ever needed is here in my arms")
* "All I Ever Wanted" by Lenny Kravitz ("All I ever wanted, all I ever needed, all I ever wanted was love")
* "Too Much" by Mott the Hoople ("All I ever wanted was you - is that too much")
I'd imagine you're thinking of a variation on the Depeche Mode song.

That sounds like part of "All I Need is a Miracle."

| #10 Posted on 13.1.02 0335.58 Reposted on: 13.1.09 0515.14 | The closest part of "All I Need Is A Miracle" to what Pieman was thinking of is the refrain (courtesy www.sing365.com):
"All I need is a miracle, all I need is you (all I need is a miracle)"
However, it looks like "Enjoy The Silence" was all Pieman ever needed (couldn't resist that ) - glad to be of service.
