Keep an eye out, and you might be the one to get number 2,000,000 on the views counter in the top left of every page. (The web server and database are off, and I can't remember why. Trust me, we passed 2 million ) Not bad for under 6 months. Promote this thread!

For some reason, there is a discrepency between the logs and the database. I'm not sure how the 14,000 page view difference in the database views and log files happened.

I'm not too worried about it Pick whichever number you want to believe...

Y!: # 7 Posted on 18.6.02 2033.30 Reposted on: 18.6.09 2034.09 Aha, now one sees the utility of a database with proper transactions. Although if the difference between the two numbers has stayed constant, I'd suggest that's not what the issue is. Are there any static pages on the site? Or were there? And are you talking Apache logs vs. MySQL logs? Are there any pages that require multiple database accesses? Or was the database rebuilt at some point? Or should I just stop spinning my wheels and pretend you never told us your odometers don't agree? ;)

ICQ: # 8 Posted on 18.6.02 2046.24 Reposted on: 18.6.09 2046.42 It's not a database inconsistency issue.. It's that some PHP pages don't ping the DB to update the stupid "pages viewed" counter, because they exit before getting to that SQL statement (or because they don't call it at all). The page views Zim are talking about come from the Apache logs, all pages served with extensions html, php, and a few others. ... Adam

There shouldn't be any pages on the site that don't call that query, unless.... maybe the FAQ. Still, I doubt there are 14,000 views of the FAQ. It honestly never really bothered me why they don't match. They are close enough that I don't think either one is seriously flawed.
