For those who haven't seen it, former WWE writer Seth Mates has a blog on Newsday's website. He's now an editor there, but his blog mainly deals with wrestling. In the latest update, he gives the origins of the Katie Vick name, and in future installments, promises to fill us in more on that whole angle. Promote this thread! | | Mr. Boffo

But who am I to argue with Seth Mates? He's going off a 5+ year old memory... while I'm just going off the report I filed that very night.
EDIT: To save three of you some time, here was the Recap Feedback (The W).

Regardless of the alleged origins behind Katie Vick's name, the first night that her name was uttered by Triple H he CERTAINLY said "Katie Fick." Perhaps it was supposed to be "Katie Vick" all along and Triple H just goofed up, or perhaps it was "Fick" and then the writers thought the better of it and changed it to "Vick" the next week. Either way, I totally remember "Fick," clear as day.
I haven't found it just yet, but hopefully there's something on YouTube to back me up.

You should have linked to your report from the following week: (slashwrestling.com)
Originally posted by CRZ When we come back, KANE is in the ring. He sure loves to snap his elbowpad! Before we move on, let me just say that LAST week, I wanted to be sure I heard correctly, so I doublechecked and picked up "Katie *F*ick" from the WWE.com RAW report (it's still there, actually)
I read through Seth's piece and focused on this paragraph:
Originally posted by Seth The main event of the evening was to be the four-way Tag Team TLC Match that was voted Best Raw Match of the Century at that pitiful 10th anniversary show. The plan was that after Kane and Hurricane won that match, Triple H would come out and accuse Kane of being a murderer.
The Katie Vick dirt is all well and good, but I'd love to hear how it came about that they decided on using a "murder accusation" angle in the first place.

No, wait that WAS Kane. No...no, I'm pretty sure that was Kane. Or Paul Bearer. Whatever. Shouldn't any or all three of these people be in jail for that? I mean, if Paul wasn't dead from cement or something.
Point being that Kane was creepy enough to drive Tori into X-Pac's greasy arms of all people, so I could totally buy him killing a girl and fucking her dead body.

Of course, Vick WAS in developmental at the time, so you'd have to think Vince would have his name SOMEWHERE in his company. | blackdragon

But for now, I thought I'd give you the story on where the actual name "Katie Vick" comes from.
"Leave 'em wanting more", eh? That implies that you've given them something to want in the first place. He's taken 12 paragraphs to convey that they picked a developmental talent name in case they wanted to hook that up later. And the paragraph about the selection of the first name... totally riveting!
If this article is an example of his writing, pacing & interest-building, I see why he's now "pursuing other opportunities". | BigDaddyLoco

I totally agree. The fact that Kane and the Undertaker have survived all of their feuds and storylines over the years and kept or built up their credibility is amazing. These are characters that really shouldn't have made it much longer than a year and now it seems like they could go on forever. Their storyline histories would probably make for a deceant read.
