I hate Morrison and Miz individually but love them as a team. I can't put my finger on it, but the whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts, in my eyes. Next week's rematch should be lots o' fun.
Shelton beat Stevie cleanly. To me, this makes a strong statement, since Stevie was being pushed strongly in the last month.
Punk-Chavo was a super match with a super ending. The roll-through Boston crab is probably my favorite move in all of wrestling. Also, that was an AWESOME tornado DDT. Punk is a super-seller. Chavo ends the feud as the winner and with an exclamation point. But, does it matter? How is he involved in WM? Punk probably gets a MitB spot, but what about Chavo?

Punk praising Eddie as a warrior while calling Chavo a coward was kind of odd, too. Eddie would pretend to get hit by a chair to get his opponent disqualified!
But come on, D&D vs. M&M in EXTREME RULES next week? I haven't been so psyched for an ECW match since the Moore Wang vs. M&M 15 minutes of fame tag title match a month and a half or so ago! | Matt Tracker

So as clean as Chavo can get is...completely clean? He also won cleanly at No Way Out. | Matt Tracker

In this match, Chavo draped Punk crotch first on the rope before frogsplashing him. Deliberate crotch shots are grounds for DQ, even in ECW. I didn't see the PPV match, and if it was an utterly clean win (no tights pulled, no use of ropes, etc.), then I'm more surprised by Chavo taking out ECW's top star so easily. | AlbySure

Wrestling is fake.
Seriously, though, that's about as close as a clean win for a heel in 2008 WWE is going to get. I didn't even notice the crotch shot, and I don't think Joey and Tazz made much over it. Chavo was put over pretty strong. | 2P4E

Well done to the video editing guys for making Monday's Big Show/Mayweather confrontation look more like an actual conversation, rather than the uncomfortable series of soundbites played at random intervals it seemed on RAW.
Colin Delaney hasn't been a completely terrible or boring thing (yet) contrary to my expectations.

I had thought maybe Stevie could somehow get in as the sentimental underdog, but the loss to Shelton pretty much quashes that (even moreso than the unlikely idea of Stevie Richards getting a WM singles match). | Packman V2

The problem is that there are no faces in any of those feuds and it is time to let someone other than Punk wrestle for the title. | spf

Chavo could always be turned pretty quickly by someone shitting on Eddie's memory. Sure, Chavo himself did that repeatedly, but hey, who remembers last month? | KJames199

The catch is that Chavo Guerrero is living proof that charisma isn't hereditary. It's hard to believe that the nephew of Eddie Guerrero and the son of Chavo Classic could be so bland and dull, but there he is. Decent wrestler, but no personality to speak of. He always comes across as forced when a heel, and sleep-inducing as a babyface.
They could play up Eddie's memory and try to make Chavo a sympathetic babyface, but that would work about as well as it has in the past - people wouldn't boo Chavo, but they just don't really care about him. He's fine when he's got someone to cut promos for him, especially as half of a tag team with someone more charismatic, but as a singles wrestler, I can't really see him advancing any further than he already has.
And personally, I think it's well past time for them to just let Eddie Guerrero rest. | 2P4E

| #17 Posted on 7.3.08 1204.35 Reposted on: 7.3.15 1208.11 | Tonight was the night where they either put Punk over as the champ and then moved him on to another feud for WM, or they put Chavo over as the champ and moved him on to another feud for WM. Looks like they went the latter, which I honestly wasn't expecting.
My only hope is that they do move Punk away from Chavo and onto something else. Maybe even change brands. Because Punk has done way too much losing in ECW title matches; he's looking like a loser. And as a fan of the performer, I hate to see that. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
