From Box Office Mojo (Last week's final rank in parenthesis):

1. Meet the Spartans (NEW) - $18,725,000
2. Rambo (NEW) - $18,150,000
3. 27 Dresses (2) - $13,600,000
4. Cloverfield (1) - $12,700,000
5. Untraceable (NEW) - $11,200,000
6. Juno (4) - $10,300,000
7. The Bucket List (3) - $10,210,000
8. There Will Be Blood (11) - $4,887,000
9. National Treasure: Book of Secrets (7) - $4,664,000
10. Mad Money (6) - $4,610,000

"Meet the Spartans" declares victory at the box office this weekend, thus making the Baby Jesus cry. Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg's unfunny reign of terror continues with no end in sight. I'm sure the critics that have helped bring it to a whopping 5 percent on Rotten Tomatoes are thrilled.

In other comedy news, "Rambo" didn't finish far behind and it makes me think that it could actually hold the number one slot when the final numbers come in. But I'm sure no one was thrilled with an $18M draw when "Cloverfield" dwarfed those numbers last weekend.

Speaking of which, the initial curiosity seems to have died down, as "Cloverfield" takes a 68 percent drop and leaves it behind "27 Dresses", which had a steep drop of its own. Not a good weekend for the box office in general, but then again, it never is at this time of year.

"There Will Be Blood" has opened up in 496 more theaters nationwide for those looking to see what the Oscar buzz is about.

Not hitting the top ten is "How She Move", yet another urban dance flick. Opening in a paltry 1,500 theaters, it only drew $4M.

Where did your money go this weekend?

I saw Rambo while my GF saw 27 Dresses, Rambo started 45 minutes earlier, so I went in to see the end of 27 Dresses. Seemed okay, but predictable.

I finally caught Cloverfield and truly enjoyed it - seems like half the people I've spoken to have seen it twice, and the other half are going to see it again....also took the kids to see August Rush. Cheesy, but not horrible.

Sadly, this is really good for a Canadian Film. It only needs to make another 8 million to pass Porky's and Bon Cop/Bad Cop which are one and two in terms of highest grossing Canadian films ever.

(If you just said, "WOW! I had no idea it was Canadian!" Than the marketing team did their job.)

Wow, not too long ago my dad was running through On Demand movies. He actually started watching Bon Cop/Bad Cop. After ten minutes, we both realized we wouldn't be able to follow the movie and we subsequently gave up.

On topic and as I mentioned, I was unfortunate enough to see Meet The Spartans. It sucked.
