From Box Office Mojo (Last week's rank in parenthesis):

1. Cloverfield (NEW) - $41,000,000
2. 27 Dresses (NEW) - $22,427,000
3. The Bucket List (1) - $15,150,000
4. Juno (3) - $10,250,000
5. National Treasure: Book of Secrets (4) - $8,148,000
6. First Sunday (2) - $7,800,000
7. Mad Money (NEW) - $7,700,000
8. Alvin and the Chipmunks (5) - $7,000,000
9. I Am Legend (6) - $5,105,000
10. Atonement (10) - $4,759,000

With its three-day, $41M weekend, "Cloverfield" sets a new January record, beating out the re-release of the original Star Wars in 1997. It already sets the record for highest earnings on Martin Luther King weekend, beating out 2002's "Black Hawk Down", which brought in $33.6M over the whole four-day stretch.

If I absolutely have to sit through a romantic comedy (and for my relationship's sake, I do), I'll happily take "27 Dresses" which provides more Katherine Heigl goodness. And it looks like another winner for James Marsden.

The notable #11 is Oscar-contender "There Will Be Blood", which narrowly missed the top 10, despite its limited (389 screens nationwide) release.
