It's fucking rediculous trying to figure out how to get from point A -> B.
All I want to know is this: Can 2 people get from San Diego to Modesto, CA by only taking trains? If not, why the hell not? Are there not train tracks that go between N. and S. California?
What's the deal? I don't want to take a bus.

Just fly Southwest already! (Or it it already sold out?) | Guru Zim

Probably $80 to drive, but I'm not sure I want to...
Ugh. Maybe we can hitchhike.
There is a train that goes up the coast but it only goes North from LA... can't get it coming back. It's the really nice LA -> Seattle run.
Ugh. Anyone ever done train -> bus -> train before? Is it a nightmare? | TheBucsFan

I've done it twice going from my apartment in Gainesville to my brother's house in Miami when I was afraid my car couldn't handle the drive down. As long as you know where you're going well enough before hand to not get lost, I don't think you could have a problem. What I hated was that the thing I like most about riding in a train, the relaxing while someone else worries about driving and directions and such, is interrupted so you can switch trains. | pieman

Okay, I'll bite. How does the train only go one way? Does Spock teleport it back to LA? | bigwavedave

that train ( the "coast starlight") goes from LA to Seattle through here in SLO county. it might not stop up near SanJO on the way back down. | Guru Zim

Even if I took that, though, I would have to take it to Oakland and come back via Oakland (assuming it comes back that way).
Actually, that train costs more anyway, and takes 12 hours. I think we'll probably just fly Southwest Airlines. | | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
