What mode of transportation do you use to get to work? I've done pretty much every method except pogo stick. I've ridden Amtrak trains, commuter rail, Greyhound bus, driving, walking, bicycle, etc, etc. These days I usually commute in to Boston on a boat (which has a BAR!), but I go home by taking the subway to a bus.

I'm in the awkward position of living in the same city as the school I'm going to, which means they won't let me live on campus. Right now (or, more accurately, when classes start on Tuesday) I walk to campus, but next month (when I move to an apartment that's further away but still in the city) I'll have to start taking the bus.

My roller skate for my 35 minute (each way) commute.

The great part about the Aveo is that when the car fails, you just crush it against your forehead and put it in a Recycle bin.

Do they hand out Subarus in the welcome basket when you move to Maine?

I didn't know this was gonna turn into a "what's your car" thread, but what the hell:

Not our 2000 Plymouth Neon, but an uncanny resemblance. Same metallic poop color and everything.

A 1989 Cadillac Deville. Very similar to the one I had, but I sold it to my brother.

It's funny because it's true.

I also drive - 5:00 am every morning here and 7:00 every night there, give or take.

I just put a new engine in the 2000 Corolla, so I'm stuck with that for some time. It's a good enough back-and-forth car, though. 33 mpg.

A 1996 Ciera with about 210,000 miles on it. Not much to look at but it runs. Having to drive 50 miles each way, I refuse to ruin a nice car.

I drive to downtown Calgary and I pay anywhere from $22 to $27 daily at a parking lot. Amazingly, my employer allows me to expense it!

I just wish they'd add $5500 to my salary and I'd take the bus in.

I commute via bicycle 6 days a week, 5 miles each way. It takes anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic through Harvard Square.

No gasoline, parking is free, and I can do tune-ups in my living room.

For me it's about a little over a half a mile to where I get the L train (mta.info), transfer to the 6 at Union Square and my office is around the corner from my stop.

Takes me about 45 minutes each way.

I live right down the street from the school I substitute teach at. It's about a five-minute walk, but I did that for 12 years while I was a student and besides, there's something about students seeing a teacher walking to school that makes me feel uncomfortable, so I drive.

Now have the front bumper hanging a bit off, the back bumper's dented, there's a slight crack near the rear wheel well... although I certainly wouldn't mind buying one of these:

These days, I drive a 1990 Ford ranger with that annoying red and white paint job you have probably seen - when I am here, which is rare. Normally, I take a Canadiair Regional Jet to Atlanta and then a MD-80 wherever I am going.

Back when I was working in Chicago, I took the electric Train downtown and walked across town to my workplace.

I have a silver 02 Accord, which I've found to be as blend-in/invisible on the road as a yellow taxi in NYC, because there's always at least 17 other ones within 100 yards of me driving through Raleigh.
