Hello.
Back to the weekly grind - hey, I've been doing this for a whole year! Can you believe it? I can't!
This week we're back to the heavy release schedule - starting Tuesday you can add another 416 to the "released" pile - that breaks out to 399 DVDs, nine Blu-Ray, seven HD DVD and one UMD!
For those of you who HAVEN'T been here before, these lists work like so:
We got the big list on one page! We get them from Amazon, and they'll take you TO Amazon. Hovering over links should provide you with Amazon's current price.
CLICKING on links takes you to the Amazon shopping cart with a friendly referral from The W - consider making your purchase - ANY purchase - through us, as it'll place a few coins in our tip jar!
Because Amazon sometimes can't come correct with the information about certain movies or TV shows, you will see some exposition from me (or, more likely, a bad joke) in addition to the listing along with IMDb icons (which can be clicked to take you to a movie's IMDb listing) or tv.com icons (which can be clicked to take you to the relevant episode list from tv.com)!
All links will open new windows, so you can click, look, and then close to come right back here!
If you don't mind my asking for some promotion, please tell a friend (or vote this thread up Digg/Propeller/Newsvine/Reddit/&c. with a click of the icon(s) of your choice at the bottom of this post) about this post because it takes me a long time and I'm a big fan of more eyeballs! We're also happy for you to email this link to others as well - a lot of people do that!
Please feel free to add a reply and share your two cents about any of the listings you see here - show off your impressive knowledge, share your opinion about something you've seen, something you're looking forward to seeing, or make your own crappy jokes which are better than mine!
We also hope that if you buy something, you come back and tell us what you thought about it! This hardly ever happens, but it's always appreciated when it does!
If you have something to say but don't want to say it publicly (or register for the board), you can also email me direct at CRZ.DVD@gmail.com!
IT'S TIME TO DUEL

I like to imagine they ordered a DVD off Bob Barnett's site and put a box around it.
What I've actually heard is this the WWA/Tijuana 30 min show, as seen on previous DVDs (which Big Vision sells as "DESPERADOS DEL RING") with just Rey Misterio Jr. matches and new commentary from the XPW crew and Konnan. Which is like the commentating team from my nightmares. | Alex

| #6 Posted on 9.1.08 0511.58 Reposted on: 9.1.15 0512.43 | Eagle vs. Shark (The W at Amazon) is kind of a New Zealandese Napoleon Dynamite -- actually, a little too much so. There is some really funny stuff in here, but also enough specific similarities -- in addition to the general feel of the movie -- to Napoleon that it kinda bugged me. (For instance, the lead guy says "Yessss!" in the same sort of way, and also has an affinity for nunchucks.) Definitely recommended to fans of Napoleon, but you might experience some deja vu.
(The lead guy is from Flight of the Conchords -- how does that compare? Anyone?)

Sunshine is a really nifty sci-fi film by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later). I think it's in the same general ballpark as Alien, with a small crew piloting a spaceship and everything is claustrophobic and things just go from bad to worse. Absolutely the most suspensful film I've seen in a long time -- only I Am Legend comes close. I was disappointed when Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
it sort of turned into a horror film for the third act -- similarly to Legend, I liked the first two-thirds better than the last third. |
but still -- absolutely check it out.
