I used to think he was a spoiled brat who never really earned the successes that he was a part of, but I can't think of a better person to give the Conn Smythe for the 2002 playoffs to than Brett Hull.

The guy has been scoring clutch goals all playoff, especially in the last couple of rounds. I don't think Hasek has been `dominating' enough to be given the nod; instead give it to the veteran who's shown this year more than ever (though he had nothing left to prove) why he's among the game's best. He still doesn't hit nearly enough for my liking, but hey, neither did Gretzky
Runner-up goes to Yzerman for sheer courage, but his effectiveness was certainly limited by his bad wheel.

That said, I'm still pulling for Carolina ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Conn Smythe for the entire playoffs, not just the finals.

If so, Hasek now has the record for most shutouts in one year (and added to it last night). I'd think, in the absence of a stellar goal scorer or emotional leader, I'd go with the goalie.

My top 3 in no particular order are Hasek, Hull, and Larionov. It is hard to figure out who deserves Conn Smythe this year. There is no real standout candidate.

Ron Francis was looking real good for the Conn Smythe thru Game 1 of the Finals - no idea who to give it to on Detroit - probably go to Hasek

even though he won't get it, i'd go with federov. he's been great in this series and was seemingly the only red wing doing anything in the first 5 games of the avs series. without the pressure of having to score with hull and robitaille around, federov has been the best all around player for the wings in the playoffs.
if he doesn't get it, i'd rather see lidstrom get it before hasek, but it's tough to ignore the dominator's numbers.
i still find it interesting that the red wings were supposedly the favorites during the whole year and playoffs even though many people picked them to lose to vancouver in the first round and then to the avs in the conference finals.

QWell, it's Lidstrom.

Not who I expected, but who cares at this point. :> !
