I went to the store with the idea to buy a PSP and a game and maybe a movie for it. But the games really had nothing the stood out and the movies almost seemed like the did not exist. Now I remember hearing that some movie company's were gonna stop making movies for the PSP because they were not selling well but did all of them stop making them? And are their any games worth buying? Or should I just hold out tell Sony does their next version of a hand held system?

Also, just to note, instead I went ahead and bought a Nintendo DS and a couple games instead but I am still unsure if I should pass on the PSP or not.

Had you asked this a month ago, I'd have answered a resounding "no".

But the new PSP Slim just hit stores and with the new features (including a better analog stick, better Wi-Fi connectivity, TV Output (!), and double the RAM size of the original), I can't help but give it a good recommendation.

The Star Wars Battlefront package (containing a special Ceramic White PSP Slim with Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron) will be in stores on October 9 for $199.99. I'd definitely wait until that one comes out.

But if you must have yours now, go with the Daxter package (which is arguably the better deal). It contains an Ice Silver PSP Slim, a copy of Daxter, a UMD copy of Family Guy: The Freakin' Sweet Collection, and a 1 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo for $199.99. It's in stores right now.

(Mayhaps CRZ or Guru can helpfully place an Amazon link hereabouts?)

The PSP always seemed like a pretty solid system, especially as a portable media center. Music and movies on a pretty good-sized screen, and there are some pretty solid games out for it (and more coming, like the portable God of War). The problem I always had, and the reason why I don't have a PSP, is that even for all that, $200 always seemed like it was too damn steep a price for something that, frankly, I wouldn't use all that much. I don't know how much portable gaming and media you're really going to need, so I can't speak for you, but I just never found that the system, as good as it seems to be, was worth the high price tag.

Dracula X Chronicles (coming out soon), Valkyrie Profile, and Initial D Special Stage.

Not a TON of stuff on the system yet, but those are reason enough to get one.
