I have not seen a thread on this yet and just wanted to say that I have watched every sinlge episode and I am so frustrated and annoyed with this show! I can not believe that this show could possibly be renewed for another season. The season finale is Sunday and unless it is the mother of all finales, this will go down in my book as the most disappointing effort put forth by HBO in a long time.

Is anyone else watching this and if so, are you enjoying it or are you as confused and perterbed as me?

I really like this show - although I have a feeling I'm probably the only one, which is why I never bothered to start a thread. Admittedly, some of this is due to my love for David Milch's last project - which I thought was the best show on television.

I think the show is about characters and dialog more than it is about plot - the plot isn't really that complicated, save for whatever the deal is with John. All of the characters have a back story - all of them play some roll. Ed O'Neill and Brian Van Holt are really shining.

The supernatural element is really subtle, which tend to like more than being beaten over the head with it.

I can see why people aren't into it. I think it is a pretty compelling show, and I have a feeling that a lot will be explained during the finale.

I've been catching the replays here and there, and I think I've seen the whole series, but not in any coherent order. Then again, from what I've seen/read, I don't think that makes a difference.

I remember poring over transcripts of John's 'sermon' from a few episodes ago. I expect I'll pore over it again after the finale. I like how the circle and the line and the ones and zeroes have become involved, and how people are unconsciously quoting the speech. I didn't watch Deadwood, but this show is clearly all about the dialog and wordplay.

I also liked the Zack Morris-Luke Perry feud. Ed O'Neill is awesome, and I love the Bill-Freddy dynamic.

I would have no problem with this show getting another season. I can almost see Milch having a multi-season arc for this community and how they develop. My own theory is that they are all supposed to parallel the disciples, but I think I could only count 11 at most. However, I can see how most people, who need concrete answers, would be disappointed or off-put by this show. In quite a few ways, its about faith. And a large part of that is the faith that everything will come together in the end. That said, I don't expect anything to be resolved by the season finale. And I also don't expect a season two.

I'm intrigued by this, but I get the feeling I'm in the minority.

During my summer vacation week ("LaQuinta...Spanish for 24 crappy TV channels"), any time I turned on HBO, they were showing either "Big Love" (the same two episodes over and over), "John from Cincinnati" (the same episode over and over) and "My Super Ex-Girlfriend".

None of which was very good, but "John" just drove me nuts. And I usually LIKE weird shows.

Well, Iwatched the season finale and when it ended I told my wife that if this show gets renewed, I am never watching HBO again. Thankfully, it has not.

I am a fan of odd shows, I loved Twin Peaks and I dig Dexter and others, but this show had no direction and no pay off. I still do not know exactly why anything happened on this show.

And Rebecca DeMornay screaming FUCK every other word turned me off too.

Mercifully, it is over.
