| #1 Posted on 31.7.07 1332.17 Reposted on: 31.7.14 1332.44 | I can do these two weeks at a time, because all of 1 game has been released. There's none next week, and two (including Madden) the week after. It looks like games might be released regularly after that.
The 1 game I missed:
07/23: NASCAR '08. IGN gives it a 5.0, and not a strong 5.0. 1UP is a bit kinder, but the consensus seems to be it's yet another beautiful looking game with unpolished or unfinished gameplay and features. It's pretty, but lacking substance.
I don't know if this an EA issue or a PS3 issue, but I've noticed some of the same with NCAA '08. The improvement in visuals blows you, but other parts of the game aren't at the PS2 level. The little Heisman bit they do in the PS2 version is no great thing, but it's surprising not to have something similar in PS3 (you just look at the generic voting chart.) There's stuff like how snow is handled during the game - after a quarter, you can't see any yard or out of bounds line, or footprints - that had to be seen before the game got shipped out, but nothing was done.
Future versions of this year's PS3 games will undoubtedly be better, but at least somewhat due to stuff they should've had right to begin with. Promote this thread! | | JayJayDean

The gameplay is a LOT tighter, so you can actually drive around on the outside of someone or get hit and save it. There are a couple of minor quibbles so far, like why did I get a 17-race truck contract for a 25-race season and why are the charity races longer than the actual ones, but I'm really happy with it.
NCAA 08 was as good as you would expect, too. | odessasteps

Last year yes, this year definitly no. The 360 version last year just didn't have any features to it, but now all the extras are in there and it plays pretty good. Only problem I've found is tons of turnovers. No, it's not just my crappy playing, I'm hearing it from everyone else who plays.
From what I've read EA has been really slow with the new systems. Like last years 360 NCAA was horribly lacking and now this years PS3 version runs at half the frame rate, with graphical glitches and such. Same with NASCAR as I hear the PS3/360 versions left out a lot of the options you get in the PS2 version. Which seems silly, but what do I know.
So yeah Cubs, EA is kinda dropping the ball with it's first few titles on this generation. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
