(2) (image removed) CLEVELAND CAVALIERS vs. (3) (image removed) SAN ANTONIO SPURS

All games on (image removed) - times are EASTERN!

GAME 1 THU @ SA 9PM
GAME 2 6/10 @ SA 9PM
GAME 3 6/12 @ CLE 9PM
GAME 4 6/14 @ CLE 9PM
GAME 5 6/17 @ CLE 9PM *
GAME 6 6/19 @ SA 9PM *
GAME 7 6/21 @ SA 9PM *

*if necessary

I will have to stay on the big bandwagon and say Cavs in 6 - although I don't have much in the way of logic to put behind it, I just don't like the Spurs all that much so it isn't a hard pick to make.

The Pistons didn't take Cleveland seriously but the Spurs will. Hard to bet against Tim and Popovich too.

Go Cavs. Karma has to catch up with the Spurs for the way they thugged and bugged and cheated to beat Phoenix, or there's no justice in this world.

Spurs in 5. Duncan and Company find ways to win. By hook or by crook, it really doesn't matter as long as in the end, they're puttin another ring on.

Go Cavs. Indianapolis finally got our long-awaited championship; now another long-suffering city, Cleveland, needs to get themselves a champion.

The league itself needs the Cavs to win.

But logic dictates the Spurs will be crowned.

The Cavs can only get better from this point.

If you thought Wade got a lot of calls in last year's Finals, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

But I still think the Spurs are going to win. Cleveland, aside from their two studs, have to be the worst team in NBA Finals history.

Well I'm sure David Stern is breathing some relief that they at least may be able to get some ratings off Lebron, other than that who actually thought it would be Spurs vs Cavs in the finals? I guess the same goes for the NHL. I wonder which "cheap shot" the Spurs plan on using on Lebron. I'm picking the Spurs, More talent!

Spurs in four. Lebron is great but he's not even the best player in the series. Tim Duncan is. He might not score 48 like Lebron did in game five, but he also doesn't score ten like Lebron did in Game 1 and he dominates defensively too. The rest of the players? Ginobili and Parker by themselves could beat the rest of the Cavs. The "cheated to win" stuff is ridiculous. Give it up. The Spurs won because they are better. If you can't clearly see the Spurs are way better than the Suns then I suggest finding a new sport to watch.

Agreed the "cheated to win" comment is ridiculous. So much of me wants Lebron to pull this off. I haven't been interested in the NBA since MJ left, and now all of a sudden this past week I'm hunting for games so I can watch him play.

The Spurs can try to treat him like they did Nash, but it's not exactly gonna work out the same for them. Lebron is just a wee bit bigger and stronger.

Everything intelligent says the Spurs will burn this Cleveland team to the ground and piss on the ashes. But what if? Could he really do this?

Nah, nevermind. Spurs in five.

I'm at home on dial-up, so I can't do the quote research, but boy am I glad I called this. Now to see if I can be wrong on my San Antonio pick. I like to think the Cavs match up pretty well with the Spurs, and that the Spurs haven't seen a real strong defensive team like this yet. That said, I really respect the Spurs and see Duncan, Ginobili, Horry, and the rest as a hell of a formidable challenge.

Dang, I love this ride. CAVS IN 6 BABY!!! WHOO-HOOO!!!

PS - Daniel 'Boobie' Gibson is my hero. My favorite reaction I heard on the radio - "They fell into a Boobie trap!"

Congrats to the Cavs for winning the last series. I think the Pistons were highly unmotivated through the first four games, but they STILL couldn't stop LeBron when they actually gave a crap. I'm excited to see if LeBron can will the Cavs to victory.

That said, I can't see the Cavs winning more than one game in the series. The Spurs will actually play perimeter defense the whole game and you won't see Pavlovic or Gibson getting those wide open looks like you did in the Detroit series, even with LeBron driving to the hoop every possession.

I am eager to see how the flopping/whining 1-2 punch for each team (LeBron/Varejao and Duncan/Ginobili) fare against each other. My guess is the refs will be quite busy every game.

Spurs in 5 (though I will very happy for Cleveland fans if LeBron can pull this off).

Closest in terms of 'bad' team getting to the Finals would be the Moses Malone/Robert Reid/not much of anything else Houston Rockets from 1981 getting through a very wacky West before losing to the Celtics in 6.
Spurs in 6 as they take the first 2 at home, get blown out in Game 3, win a narrow Game 4, the Cavs show pride by not losing the series at home in Game 5, and the Spurs blast the Cavs in Game 6.

I also pick Spurs in 6, while like most I also will be rooting for the Cavs like there is no tomorrow.

The Spurs will win both games at home, Lebron will pull a 48-like performance in game 3, the Spurs then win game 4, Cavs get a lucky win in game 5 via not-Lebron, and SA finishes the series off back in Cleveland in game 6.

Final prediction- The Spurs will bore me like they always do (there's one prediction I'm almost sure to get right).

For what it's worth: the Finals are a H-H-A-A-A-H-H series. Hence game 6 would be in San Antonio.

If it gets to a game 6, that is. All depends if the Cavs start actually hitting their shots. Impressive defense to hold San Antonio down, but what a miserable offensive showing.

Oh! In that case, I would have said "Cavs in 5" and looked even dumber! (But it could still happen!)

And that's 4 titles in 9 years (and it all started with the 8th seeded Knicks).

Tony Parker is MVP.

Big Shot Bob has a 7th ring and is apparently going to play one more year.

Well, let's kick the offseason off.

Well phooey.

Congrats to the Spurs, they really pulled it off. I was hoping the Cavs could at least postpone the inevitable and avoid the sweep. Heckuva team they've got, and I gotta agree this series really showed the disparity between the West and the East.

I still like Tim Duncan, but man am I tired of Mr. Longoria already.
