No thread about this yet? ESPN was all over the pre match hype and Liddell goes out and proceeds to get his ass handed to him.

I don't think UFC is weeping too much from a charisma standpoint, since Rampage is marketable as hell and a great interview. Also, in case you hadn't noticed, an awesome fighter. Now UFC really has two draws -- the instant headliner in Rampage, plus the still ultra-marketable Chuck fighting his way back for a rematch. I think we can pencil in that Liddell vs. Griffin fight for September or October, provided Forrest doesn't job next month.

This was the fight where the year's themes of "the PRIDE fighter struggling in UFC" and "the underdog wins" collided, with the underdog theme continuing onwards. It's weird to think that back in October, Chuck, Hughes, Franklin, GSP and Tito were UFC"s golden boys, and now they're all either titleless or coming off losses.

I don't know how anybody can make an argument that he got his ass handed to him. He got caught with a shot. Happens all the time. This wasn't Couture whooping Sylvia's ass all over again, it was a fight that didn't really get started. It wasn't even a hard punch either.

Good show overall. The fighters must have been motivated, knowing the show would get good coverage, so the UFC needed everyone to have a good or great match.

Dan Henderson was brought into the cage after. It's Rampage vs. Hendo next.

Rumor is... Chuck may fight Wanderlei Silva next. And this will likely set a record for PPV buys whenever it happens.

Since nobody else has talked about it, nearly all the fights were good to great, making for my first UFC on PPV experience into a great one. I've been watching the past events on DVD, but this was the first that friends of mine and I decided to buy. Of course I lost 10 dollars on Liddell, but what can you do?

The Karo/Burkman fight was really good, especially that first round. And then there was the upset of Keith Jardine by Houston Alexander. That was worse of a shot/shock than Rampage/Iceman in my mind.

Huge thumbs up for this show from my end, and if they do match up Chuck/Wanderlei, that will probably be PPV #2 to buy for me.
