| #1 Posted on 2.6.02 1640.02 Reposted on: 2.6.09 1644.10 | I'm leaving off a couple players who only spent a season or two in Toronto. So no Molitor, Stewart, Clemens or Winfield.
C - Carlos Delgado started off as a catcher when he came in back in '94, so I'll cheat, place him here, and that will help out the 1st base logjam. 1B - John Olerud 2B - Roberto Alomar SS - Tony Fernandez 3B - Kelly Gruber OF - George Bell OF - Joe Carter OF - Devon White DH - Cliff Johnson SP - Dave Stieb CL - Tom Henke
Rest of them:
C - Ernie Whitt IF - Fred McGriff IF - Damaso Garcia IF - Alfredo Griffin OF - Jesse Barfield OF - Shawn Green
SP - Pat Hentgen SP - David Wells SP - Jimmy Key SP - Jim Clancy
RP - Dennis Lamp RP - Duane Ward RP - Joey McLaughlin RP - Billy Koch (the obligatory reliever that gives fans a coronary when they walk out from the bullpen) Promote this thread! | | odessasteps

| #3 Posted on 2.6.02 2155.47 Reposted on: 2.6.09 2156.34 | i think clemens deserves a bit more recognition...the fact he had 2 consecutive cy youngs (more than any other starter listed) and was arguably the best pitcher in baseball those 2 years makes a very strong case for him. i guess it's similar to the expos sp debate...do you vote for a guy who spent almost his whole career on that team or do you take the guy who spent a brief period of time there but was excellent? i'd move joe carter to dh and put barfield with his gun in the of. | Big Bad

| #6 Posted on 3.6.02 0457.27 Reposted on: 3.6.09 0459.01 | Pat Borders - He was the original choice for back-up catcher. If I hadn't cheated to get both Delgado & Olerud on, he'd be there, he would be there and McGriff would be out. Whitt's there because I always liked Ernie. It's a personal bias thing.
Lloyd Moseby - My last cut. It was either him or Green.
Joe Carter as DH - I threw Cliff in there because he'd caught on occasions as well. I can't put George Bell in DH, because he'd get volatile about it. George was my original choice though, with Jesse as the 3rd outfielder. The other potential DHs fall under the short-term stay rule.
Rance Mulliniks - Damn! He's the guy I was trying to think of. He probably would have been my second last cut though. Maybe instead of Damaso? Tony & Alfredo were pretty versatile. For all Gruber's faults (going water-skiing while on the DL, for example) he's the choice at 3rd. Hinske looks to be able to blow both away if he continues like this, though.
And finally, Roy Lee Jackson should sing the anthems. | The Thrill

No, seriously. A good list, though I'd have Moseby and Barfield in the OF, Carter at DH. | Zaphod

I don't think he's saying Molitor sucked. He just wasn't in Toronto long enough (just a couple years) for consideration. Seems fair to me. | edturtle
