The WWE Hall of Fame speeches are now up at WWE.com

I haven't watch all of them myself, I only saw Dusty on USA, entertaining as usual.

Edit: Unfortunately it's only clips, darn.

Is it just me or does Nick Bockwinkel have more class than, like, everyone on Earth combined?

Forgot it was on last night, but saw that USA was reshowing it this morning. They edited the hell out of it, and in parts that made it painfully obvious. Dusty's speech had to been one of awesomeness, hell, he had Flair and Trips both in tears.

I'm so glad they dont edit the HOF for the Mania DVD, because this is one I really didn't get to see, and would love to see it in it's entirety.

I was fortunate enough to stumble upon the webcast just as it was starting, then taped the USA portion later.

Nick Bockwinkel was inducted by Bobby Heenan, and while he indeed was all class, I got the feeling like he thought he was somewhat trespassing since he wasn't a WWE guy. As an old AWA territory fan, I would have liked to hear Nick open up a bit more, myself.

Next up was the Wild Samoans, inducted by two of their sons, I'm totally guessing that it was Afa who did most of the talking, they were really emotional, and called on the current stars to remember who paved the road for them, and to honor the legacy of all their predecessors.

RVD did the talking as he and Sabu inducted The Sheik. (Sabu was resplendent in his suit and Arabian headgear) The Sheik's wife received the award for her late husband, and of course the hometown hero got a strong ovation. She mentioned how Vince Sr. brought her in to be the Sheik's "Princess" when he worked the Northeast, and what it was like to go around in public with a hated villain back in the kayfabe days.

(During the breaks, the camera was focusing on various stars in the crowd, and finally they just started going back and forth between HBK (crowd: YAY!) and Cena (crowd: BOO!). It was like English Music Hall for a minute there, but Cena took it with aplomb - should be fun tonight.)

I thought the highlight of the internet session was Don Muraco inducting Mr. Fuji. Not so much for the speeches, but just for the look of a man getting a well-deserved last hurrah, and it looked to me like they were right to put him in while he could still enjoy it.

(This took about 75 minutes, and the last four - chopped to 40-45 minutes after commercials - really suffered in comparison, only Dusty Rhodes' segment was given sufficient time, the others were a brief introduction, a video package, and the inductee saying thank you, and telling one anecdote)

The USA portion started off with Steve Austin inducting Jim Ross. Austin worked very hard to head off any "What?" chants, and his part was particularly chopped. J.R. got an ovation to match the one from Raw, and made the point that he was likely the first wrestling fan (non-performer at any level) to get the honor.

Next up was The Shatner inducting Jerry Lawler. As you might expect, Bill showed up for a check, and read from a piece of paper he was likely handed as he walked into the theater 15 minutes before his appearance. A teleprompter would have been nice. For whatever they paid, they cut the speech down to about 90 seconds, too. Lawler was shown making remarks about his partnership with J.R., and a "King-ism" remark about the McMahon/Trump match.

(Note: The highlights on wwe.com show me that there is much more to come on the WrestleMania DVD)

Wade Boggs was up next to induct Curt Hennig, and if he was just a celebrity sent out to appease the network, at least he learned his speech. Curt's wife accepted the honor, flanked by the entire Hennig family, including his parents. I think they were the most emotional as the crowd started a long "Mis-ter Per-fect .. *clap* *clap* *clapclapclap*" chant. (The Ax did not speak)

The runaway high point of the night was Dusty Rhodes, inducted by his two sons. Dustin spoke briefly about how he found that it was impossible to follow in the footsteps of a true original (crowd: "next year Gol-dust" chant) Dusty's non-wrestling son did most of the talking, and popped the crowd with the Goldust .. hiss? Dusty spent his time talking about his great opponents, they showed 3 or 4 of what was probably about 20 call-outs for others to get up and take a bow. The editor leaving in 'tributes' to both HHH and Stephanie came off as a bit brown-nosey to me, but the crowning moment was when he asked Ric Flair and Arn Anderson to stand, so they could induct Dusty and Harley Race into the Four Horsemen.

This ceremony has been an instant highlight of the wrestling year for me, and 2007 was no exception. Can't wait to see the full show.

Cody is actually wrestling, he's getting his seasoning in in OVW. Hope he does well. I was confused, the reair this morning had them as Dustin Runnels and Cody Rhodes, when the OVW site has him as Cody Runnels and Dustin has always used Rhodes, unless he's done and is going to his original last name. Kind of confused there.

Any Canadians know why TSN is not airing the HOF ceremony this afternoon? They were supposed to air it at like 2am CST on Sunday morning and then right before Wrestlemania starts later on Sunday afternoon. I checked the guide and their website, and NOTHIN!

*EDIT: Nevermind, it's on from 4-5pm CST on Monday the 2nd.

Yeah, as a Shatner mark (even though I've never seen Star Trek), this was a disappointment, but I'm hoping his whole speech was a bit better (we'll see on the DVD guess).

Actually, he was a very close friend of Curt as mentioned in a wwe.com article when it was announced that Boggs was inducting Hennig. And I think he mentioned it last night.

I believe they were chanting "Thank You Goldust," because Cody was talking about how big of an impact he had on the attitude era. That's one chant I thought I'd never hear.

Cody is one helluva talker. I hope he comes up to the main roster soon, cause he seems awesome. I am disappointed with the lack of full speeches even on wwe.com. Last year, you could watch the entire thing on wwe.com for a while, but this yeat is 1-2 minute clips only. Bummer.

I really hope Steamboat and Dibiase gets inducted next year.

They really need to start doing these ceremonies far, far away from the fans. Let me hear these guys speak from the heart, not a group of fanboys chanting for their old favorites.

Then you'll be sorry to hear that the tentative plan for next year is to have the ceremony in the Orlando (Amway) Arena, so they can try and fill up a venue with 15,000 fans. I presume based on ticket demand the last couple years of playing before 3,000 or so.

Vince is not above making money of course, but especially as this is a Hall of Fame as determined by one ultimate vote - I like the move. While it's a great time to get everyone in the industry together, this HoF is theoretically more for the fans than any other. While (for example) a Julio Franco can hang around forever, but have no realistic shot at Cooperstown, you can make a case that The Brooklyn Brawler will get in one day. Mostly for being loyal all these years, but I think that would pass muster with the fans.

Well, that's what happens when today's generationalist fans think every person they watched while they were into wrestling is a "legend."

In general the fans behave, though there are always a few who will chant anything or yell anything.
People just love to hear their own voices or see their face. It sucks.
if they cuold keep it quiet for a bit it would be a much more interesting evening.
Mind you, it was very entertaining. The speeches by Dustin and Cody were great. Wade Boggs started speaking louder and louder and get rather emotional at the end. The Samoans had some great things to say. Etc, etc, etc.
It is a great event, the guys do speak from the heart but at times they get interupted by the morons.

Apparently folks were chanting during the special screening of the Condemned on friday as well. When asked in a Q&A on sunday Mark Henry said he thought it was very disrespectful and he wishes it wouldn't happen. That was the first and last time I heard a whole audience agree applaud Mark Henry.
