Huh, no posts on this show for a few weeks.

Wow, Daddy Bauer is sure bringing the evil. Jack is definitely gonna have fun kicking his ass. The great thing is that Milo was freakin' awesome in trying to get away from the henchmen.

That drill torture had me cringing. I can't quite believe Morris caved though. Thought he'd be made of tougher stuff than that, especially with how he's guilting himself now.

I'm mildly surprised that Jack wasn't able to stop the nuke by staring fiercely at it.

I thought this past episode was good. However, the two episodes preceding this past one had more empty filler than I have seen in 24 episodes. For example, the whole thing with the President's sister and her Muslim partner/coworker. It really didn't lead anywhere and now they are gone. Pointless. Also, I am not sure why I should care about Karen Hayes. (It's also not helping that I am not really fond of most of the characters anymore, outside of Bauer, Chloe, and Bill Buchanan) I think that has chased people off, that and apparently Heroes is the new cool thing.

But the plot seems to be picking up now, with the nuclear plot moving forward on one side and the apparent assassination plot moving forward on the other. It's still better than most stuff on TV.

I think 24 may have jumped the shark. Having Jack's daddy be the bad guy, killing his brother and kidnapping his grandson...I just don't buy it (and this is a show where I'll buy just about anything). I'm still watching but I am beginning to think this should be Jack's last really bad day.

Both episodes were solid, but man, Morris is an idiot. He knew CTU was outside, and he just had to wait for a while. He could've at least rigged the device so that it would've failed when Fayed tried it, and bought himself some more time.

I may be confused by the time zones, but how did Assad's plane get from LA to Washington in just three epihours?

If you can get anywhere in L.A. in 5 minutes, you certainly can get to Washington by plane in 3 hours. I gave up on the timing aspect of the show a long time ago.

To be fair to Morris, Fayed has shown that it doesn't take much for him just to kill you. Fayed knew CTU was coming. Had the device failed when he tried it, he could very well had shot Morris on the spot and then escape. Then again, given what we have seen so far, as soon as he had a working device, we would have expected him to shoot Morris and then escape, since he had no use for him.

So I guess other than the fact that the show is 24 and not 9, there's not that good of reason for Morris to do what he did.

They got the initial "there are five bombs" info, and Walid getting beat up was in an interment camp was a big reason why Wayne voted down those sort of proposals.

Also, the very important Good Muslim points.

there's not that good of reason for Morris to do what he did.

They were going to DRILL HIS HEAD OPEN. Let's make an agreement, me and the whole world - I appreciate you holding out thru (yet another) torture to save the country and all, but if you're not someone trained to keep secrets at the cost of your life, I'm going to give you a pass if you give in when threatened with an unbelievably painful death.

If Morris could've just gotten shot and killed before setting up the trigger, or something else 'less painful/more quick', he probably would've taken it (though I think he'd rather stay alive, all things the same), but they weren't exactly giving him that option.

At the point where he started working on the thing, you have a point. However, later, Fayed KNEW CTU was coming. So did Morris. At that point, why didn't Morris just stall or screw up the program instead of finishing (not only finishing, but finishing against the clock!). Whatever Fayed did to him at that point would have to be quick, he wouldn't have had time to do anything else.

The one thing that is bugging me is the plot about Jack's father. I mean, the guy is the president of the company that allowed the bombs to get into the hands of the bad guys. Yet, they allow him to pretty much freely roam around CTU headquarters, even letting him rifle through Graem's stuff in the morgue, then let him leave the premises with his grandson. Even if they don't think he knew anything, I can't believe they would let someone who had been in that position such free reign, until they absolutely knew for certain that he had nothing to do with it. There had been no real investigation of the company or anything, yet the president is just wandering around CTU and then allowed to leave. All this within a few hours from when they first learned of the company's role in the attack. Like I said, that bugged the crap out of me.

Still, I like this season. It's over the top, but that's what you get with 24.

The whole Morris caving didn't bother me. He was in enormous pain, so he may not have been thinking clearly enough to stall or screw up the program.

It may have been over the top, but the drilling torture was great!
