You saying we should expect a DAN REEVES Era in San Diego?

Reeves- Cushy power-broker job in Houston. Would have to have the coaching bug real real real REAL bad to want to come back.

Phillips- Currently comfortably employed as a head coach.

Shanahan- ibid.

Same deal as Cowher. They'd need to compensate Tampa for his services. Although it would work out well for everyone: the Bucs get back the draft picks they gave to Oakland and get off the hook for having to possibly fire him in a year and San Diego gets a possible win-now solution. The only case against is that he'd want the farm and the next two lots over in order to take the job.

I actually think Reeves would be a decent choice. He's a proven winner and he's old so he'd likely be a short-time guy, then AJ Smith could pick a more long-term coach under better conditions.

However, Guru's pending dread makes me hope they hire Bill Callahan away from Nebraska. Clayton tossed his name out there as a "long shot but deserves consideration."

Rex Ryan Def. Cord. from Baltimore Ravens would be a good fit for the Chargers.

I hope it is Mike Martz. I have Phillip Rives and Vincent jackson on my dynasty fantasy football team and mad Mike Martz would definately help their numbers for 2007. Of course, they would fall to an 8-8 team and out of the playoffs!

I was wrong. Norv Turner is reportedly the choice.

Great! Go ahead and hire the guy who's 30 games under .500 for his coaching career and whose last coaching stint was leading the Raiders to nowhere. What a waste.

Evidently AJ Smith's solution to repeated regular season-success being followed by playoff disappointment is...eliminating regular season-success?
