Total nothing show.

Chase Stevens vs. Abyss: 45-second squash. Abyss has an oxblood mask because Sting stole his other one. After the match, both Shane Douglas and Andy Douglas come out -- huh.

Leticia needs to get more sleep.

Brother Ray cuts a promo about going for revenge -- rather than for the belts -- and taking on LAX in a "Little Italy Street Fight" on Sunday. They don't say what a "Little Italy Street Fight" is -- I guess it's like a hardcore match but instead of hitting each other with cookie trays they'll hit each other with pizza pans.

Best part of the show occurs next: Homicide chokes out Ray with a wire coat hanger while Hernandez smashes Ray's arm between the ring and the steel stairs.

If the "revenge, not belts" thing is a way to have 3D win the feud but keep the belts on LAX -- I dunno, I think it's kind of wishy washy and lame. LAX has already looked like shit in the matches thus far; looks like that will continue.

Christie Hemme's opponent is so going to be Kip James this Sunday. UNLESS IT'S CHYNA.

AJ Styles is taking on Rhino this Sunday in a "Motor City Chain Match." They don't say what a "Motor City Chain Match" is -- I think it's like a Yapapi Strap match but with a chain instead of a strap.

Why is "Yapapi" not in The W's spellchecker? That would've helped.

Rhino, Jerry Lynn & Senshi vs. Chris Sabin, The Austin Starr & James Storm: Some people move around and stuff for a couple of minutes until The Austin Starr hits Senshi with a brainbuster and pins him.

Sting accepts Abyss & Mitchell's "Prison Yard" match for Sunday. They don't say what a "Prison Yard" match is -- I guess it's like a cage match except that we're all, like, in cages of our own devising, man.

Rocky Blackboa? I just don't know what they think they're doing with Killings.

Hoyt takes on Torborg this Sunday in a "Basebrawl" match. They don't say what a "Basebrawl" match is -- I guess it's like a regular match but it's going to try and stop us from getting back to Coney Island. We're gonna have to bop our way past.

Kurt Angle & Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles & Christian Cage: I know I asked for this match last week -- I didn't think they'd put it on this week and give it three minutes of TV time. AJ sure is doing the super-quick jobs lately.

And here's Scott Steiner! He's the consultant!

And the heels celebrate.

I though this show sucked pretty bad. You?

The stuff with Nash was some of the best to date. The 3 minute main event was pathetic. WSX has longer matches!

I didn't think the show was so bad given that it was to hype a PPV.

Sting/Abyss had a lot of build up, complete with assertions that this would end the feud. The bit with the cage concerto was interesting, but I continue to have a hard time accepting Sting as hardcore. That dilutes the effect of the feud because Sing is doing exactly what he and Jarrett said was possible: Sting will win the belt and go into darkness. That's what the feud is; Sting is perverted by his pride that he can salvage Abyss, and now he's a scarred, masked thug bullying Mitchell to free Abyss. But the demeanor of the guy doesn't match the actions, and the incongruity hampers the angle. This could be great stuff.

The Steiner revelation wasn't much of one because the hints were way too easy. Even the phone poll showed that the majority of the audience didn't buy the Lesnar or Goldberg decoys. I wouldn't have given it away on free TV except that it was no mystery. I have no problem with Angle pinning Styles again after a top-rope Angle Slam. I still can't buy Cage as a main-event performer, so I see his Angle match consisting of cheap shots and rest holds.

The Dudley/LAX feud bit was interesting because I think this is the first time TNA has used the Dudley name. Ray and Konnan make it all work with their superior mic skills, and the arm injury ratcheted up the heat. But why not combine the street fight with a title match? Why are the options exclusive?

NOW BG James is gonna pull the "family is watching" card on Kip? Now he's gonna do that? Weak.

I hope the repackaging of Dutt and Lethal is a sincere attempt to do something with them and not an extended comedy angle. Both guys are too good to turn into the State Patrol or the habit-wearing Headbangers.

Again, Seratonin is nothing more than a cameo presence. Odd.

The proof is in the doll slash pudding!

I didn't particularly mind the show this week, but I'm really getting tired of the commentators filling every second of dead air with their hot air (they actually talked over part of Sting's promo).

The one good thing that came from it this week was Tenay explaining the concept of a prison yard match: Abyss and Sting will start outside the arena, and they'll fight into the ring. The winner of the match is the one who locks his opponent into the "solitary confinement cell" in the middle of the ring. So it's basically a combination of a Boiler Room Brawl and every bad WCW hardcore match ever.

I didn't see Steiner coming because I was unaware that he was under contract to TNA (only started watching a couple of months ago), and I actively try to keep myself from thinking about Scott Steiner.

I'm glad the Sting-Abyss angle will finally (hopefully) end on Sunday, because I really can't stand it.

Does anyone know Sting's contract status? I thought he signed a 1 year deal for 2006.

He re-signed for another year a few months back.

I think this is an intentional move to drown out some of the chants from the TNA arena crowd.
