| #1 Posted on 28.5.02 0017.47 Reposted on: 28.5.09 0025.42 | Well kids, let me bust your Attack of The Clones high with this information off Aint-It-Cool-News.com:
Lucas continues to fiddle with RETURN OF THE JEDI and Answers About Threepio's Noggin!
Seems that George is going to be doing more fiddling still with RETURN OF THE JEDI, I suppose digitally removing the Ewoks and creating his initial lizard people is out of the question... ahem... But AAAANNNYWAYYY Seems that George is gonna have Natalie Portman doing something in Jedi, I imagine this will have something to do somewhere with the celebration sequence, because I swear to God if he makes her a blue shimmery ghost thing somebody is gonna need an asswhuppin'. We've also heard that Jar Jar was going to end up in A NEW HOPE. (Please don't hit me, I bear only the message) George also recently revealed that R2D2 and Threepio get their memories wiped in Episode 3 for reasons not yet revealed. So there ya go.
Comingsoon.net has posted an article that says that Lucas has confirmed Natalie Portman's involvement in the new scenes being shot for the original trilogy. She is going to shoot scenes for Return Of The Jedi during the production of Episode III.
Here's the quote: "He also told MTV that Natalie Portman has signed on to be a part of the new scenes being filmed for Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. She'll shoot scenes during the production of Episode III."
Man damn...well just like what Harry says....Blue Shimmering Ghost....EVERYONE WILL DIE.

Are they real DVDs or are they DIVX rips? I wasn't aware that this existed.
I am all over this if you can confirm that the DVDs are high quality and widescreen - and lacking the revisions. | Papercuts!

It looks like they're all DIVX rips, Aaron. The telling sign is the Indiana Jones Trilogy they're also offering, which absolutely does not exist in DVD format anywhere -- even in foreign markets -- and won't for at least another year and a half.
Also, last week Lucas proclaimed that he stil considers the original SW trilogy "Incomplete" and that when they are finally released on DVD they will be "the definitive versions." In other words he's patching up all the inconsistencies. At any rate, he said (and Rick McCallum as well) very plainly that the definitive version will be the only version EVER available on DVD. | odessasteps

Given Lucas' compulsive need to retouch his movies, I doubt we'll ever see a "complete" version of *any* of his movies.

I know it drives people nuts with these changes, but they don't do anything to the story in any way, it just adds and modifies things he always wanted to do but couldn't for some reason or another. | Stephanie

And the first one had Han Solo shoot Greedo first, and that godawful Jabba the Hutt scene. The changes make things take longer, and they tend to do nothing but distract from the dialouge on screen. | evilwaldo

Phooey. Hopefully someone else orders these and lets me know if they are good or not (I don't even care if they are DVDs of a VHS - as long as they are DVD format and not DIVX computer movies). I just don't want to have to watch this on VHS as I'm slowing fading out VHS from my house.

There's no flashback scenes in any of the other movies, so it would be out of place, and it would be hard to make a CGI Leia for a scene where she talks to the ghost of her dead mother. I don't get it. I would have rather seen the added scene for "Star Wars" (Episode IV, for you dorks) where Bail Organa is shown moments before Alderaan is destroyed by the Death Star.

If they did a direct rip from the old LaserDisc copies (since they're digital, too) it is possible to get a direct digital rip of the original trilogy. Of course, it doesn't specify on this site, but I would think that if one had the equipment to digitally capture it, it can be done.
If Lucas never plans on releasing the original versions, I wouldn't have a bad conscience if I got ahold of those. He's the one that made the choice to miss out on the profits here.

1) Yes, I ordered them. They obviously aren't official Lucas Film releases. 2) They are "transferred" onto DVD from the official laser-disc releases of the movies 3) Yes, they are widescreen. It's the original versions (Greedo DOES NOT shoot first), but the Special Editions are available from this site, too. I got both the regular & SE ('cause I'm a Star Wars geek)
I haven't had time to sit down & watch them, save for 5 minutes or so of Ep. 4. It looks a little better than VHS quality, but that's not the main reason to buy them. Chances are, George won't be releasing the films in their original form on DVD, so this may be the only chance to get them. And how much longer can your VHS versions hold out? Plus, you get all 3 films for $29.99 *total*, with FREE SHIPPING~! That's $10 per movie. FOR STAR WARS! It's region-free as well, so don't worry about it coming from Malaysia.
If you do order, you'll get an email saying it could take from 10 to 40 days for delivery, but don't worry. I got mine about 2 weeks or so after ordering.
(And despite my shilling, I have no affiliation at all w/ this site.)
