LOL

Good lord, like we don't hear this enough from all the mothers and grandmothers right now. I think one of my grandmothers is about to pull out the "I want to see great-grandchildren before I die" card...

One of my favorites is the green bean casserole.

Never had green bean casserole. Never been to a Thanksgiving dinner that had it. Not a Canadian thing, maybe?

Don't think I've ever seen it, can GUARANTEE I've never had it as it looks disgusting.

You dumbass Canadians couldn't be more wrong. ALSO, it appears you've totally missed me marking the 50th Anniversary of this historic AND incredible side dish, but you can make that up right now by reliving 2005 with me (The W). I have six cans of beans, three cans of soup and two cans of fried onions all ready for the TRIPLE casserole I'll be making Thursday morning to celebrate it's 54th Anniversary!

I'm very right when I say I've never had it.

Regardless, I have to side with Jeff on the "looks disgusting" front.

My likes:
- fresh (or frozen) green beans
- fried onions

My dislikes:
- canned green beans
- cream of mushroom soup

Come to think of it, I think I saw Alton Brown making a green bean casserole with fresh beans and it didn't look nearly as awful. Still had mushrooms, though. Yecch.

Once back in the 80's, my mom made WAAAAAYYYYY too much of it one Thanksgiving. We were eating that stuff for a week.

Haven't been able to touch it since. But it DID give the family a good running gag.

I must apologize for my freedom-hating brethren.

I have had many green bean casseroles ranging from "everything from a can" to "organic and from scratch" and have yet to find one that's completely inedible. The one that incorporated soy-sauce-soaked water chestnuts was perhaps not my favorite, but they're all good (especially the ones with bacon).

Mmm, stuffing. My favorite part of the Thanksgiving feast. Doesn't matter if it's Stove Top or homemade, I just love the stuff. But yes, homemade is definitely better if you can make it.

I know it's stuffing.

It still looks like a bowl of corn flakes with some greenery.

At least the Wienerschnitzel pic went up on a day where I actually had access to one.

Guess what I had for lunch.
