2006? The Goodwrench scheme on the 29 means it couldn't have been last year. The 6 car makes it hard to tell.

The old car was much more prettier than the COT.

It was okay. A little pricey. I'll stick to ramen, I think.

Here you can get plain udon noodles in a packet like that for something like 79 cents. Add some generic bouillon powder (and some frozen veggies if you have some) and mm-mm, that's good eatin'. And much lower calorie than ramen.

Side note - there's a new restaurant just opened here called "Noodle King And Ice Cream Queen." I must try this.

One could pretend that the "Restroom" sign was pointing to that tree in the background ... if one were so inclined.

That picture might be in Lincoln, Illinois. We were just there (my son is going to college there) and noticed Rt 66 signs like that (an older and newer route for Rt 66).

It's looking north several miles south of Staunton, IL where the "Staunton Bypass" splits off from the original "Carlinville Alignment" and takes the highway to Litchfield. You definitely want to turn right.

Lincoln is pretty big on Route 66 right now. Not only do they have the multiple alignments, but the city is really excited about the tourism prospects of the road (as they should be; even with higher gas prices tourism is up in every major town along the road in Illinois this summer). We had our Route 66 Association of Illinois banquet there (at Lincoln College) this summer and they rolled out the red carpet for us.

Many thanks to CRZ for posting the birthday banner!

What, no State Fair food rundown this year?

And here I was hoping you could share your opinion on Chocolate Covered Bacon.
