OK, it's a german beer glass, mit Bier. Slide partway down this page (dc2.uni-bielefeld.de) for another view of pretty much the same glass. (Translated here (translate.google.com) )

Sahm (sahm.de) is apparently a big glassmaker in Germany. And I presume the "0,51" means a half-liter glass.

Fun factoid that a similar item (cgi.ebay.ca) was recently sold on eBay from .... Minneapolis. (Note that the "Sahm 0.51" mark is barely visible on the far side of the glass.)

Where else we go from there, I have no clue.

It could be 0,5l - that is a lower case L for Litre instead of a 1.
