Bad news on Christmas Day.

CNN just ran the story as I was flipping through the channels. May the Godfather of Soul rest in peace.

I'm not very knowledgeable with his work but it seems like his was a life of a lot of highs and lows. A pretty big talent that wasn't expected. 73 years old isn't really that old.

I want you to know that I'll never forget what I come from, where I come from, where I am today, and who put me there...you. Sad to hear this news yesterday. A true American music icon, who will be missed. SNL parodies, and imitations over the years have made a lot of people forget just how great he really was.

He may have had his problems in his personal life, but who hasn't?

May you rest in peace, James. Thanks for the memories.

As a side note: I bought tickets to his concert that was to happen in January here in Vancouver. I was very excited, because I heard he put on a dynamite show.

That really is a bummer. He was quite the showman.
