Of course, the weekend's almost half over, but you still have two more chances to sit through all six parts of the "Star Wars" saga on Cinemax East & Cinemax West. I appreciate that they're doing this, but would speculate that anyone who actually wants to DO this probably already has the DVDs and could see them in widescreen, possibly with better sound, oh and of course would have the option of not settling for the "Special Editions" of IV-VI. I'd never seen the Special Edition of "Return of the Jedi" and not hearing the yub yub song at the end was...*extremely* disconcerting. (On the other hand, I didn't care which Anakin appeared in aura form.)

Sad thing is, I STILL haven't seen "Revenge of the Sith," so maybe Sunday night I'll actually try watching it. I KNOW it's worth my time - I just never get around to it!

The only thing I can think of here is that MAYBE they have better source material for the HD feeds than you can currently get on DVD?

[waves my hand around slowly in front of CRZ and Cerebus]

"You will go see Episode III..."

Sorry, that was the absolutely mandated joke there.

Holy fuck shit mother fucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

I hated the first two Star Wars flicks too. However "Revenge of the Shift" (yeah I said shift, it finally shifted to what old school fans needed to see) was not that bad (comparatively). It finally did what the other movies didn't. It was dark and entertaining with limited Jar Jar appearances.

Episode Three, on a storyline basis, overall did sell the first two movies of the new era to an extent (don't watch the first two). Were there flaws oh sure, oh yeah and oh sure again. But still better than X3 (for story line development) if that counts for anything (IMO).

Revenge of the Sith = one thumb up from me. Fuck shit. I want to tittie fuck your ass.

Not to be a Star Wars apologist, because I am far from it, but you're missing easily the best film of the three "prequels." Seriously, Ewan McGregor is tremendous and commands the whole picture, and the main action set piece(s) truly deliver.

I got sucked in to flipping back and forth on this some of the time this weekend, and it really helps you realize the difference between the trilogies.

(Potential spoilers, for years old films, follow. You have been warned)

The pacing is the major difference in the trilogies, especially noticable in the first two "prequels," where their attempt to garner the "epic" feel really bogs the film down.

The rewatchability of eps I and II is almost nil; you basically have the two big lightsaber fights as the only scenes with any dramatic resonance in those films.

Oh, and fuck Jar-Jar.

I just got a thing in the mail today advertising that Cinemax was doing this. Kind of strange, like this will be some big selling point to get me to get cable AND Cinemax so that I can watch this.

I agree with Boffo: Episode 3 makes up for the crap that was the first two. You're doing yourself a disservice by not watching it.
