(I did not get one, but there are rumors they are going to release more at 15 minute intervals randomly. So says the Amazon page about Walmart.com. Eh.)

There's always this one (The W at Amazon) but maybe that's not what you mean?

Well, the difference was that you could pre-order at the Walmart one yesterday, but the Amazon one is still not accepting orders. I was hoping they would have a different link up yesterday in order to compete with Walmart doing this, but I struck out.

I'm going to get one, just not right away.

If the lessons of the PS2, xbox, and 360 launched systems taught me, they always, ALWAYS break down within a year.

I'm gonna wait till April at LEAST before I purchase mine.

Just thought I'd toss my 2 cents in :)

Sony is not Microsoft is definitely not Nintendo. There are people who still have the old NES's running (so long as you blow in the cartridge first...) I'd be surprised if there were any problems with the Wii.

That statement seems a bit harsh. Of course there are going to be SOME problems with every console launch, but to say they always break down is inaccurate.

I have many friends whose launch PS2s never gave them a problem. I didn't have a problem with my launch 360, launch Genesis, or original NES. Then again, maybe I (and everyone else I know) am incredibly lucky?

I still play my launch PS2 regularly. For a while it wasn't liking some of the games, so I replaced it, and the newer one died, so I went back to the older one and it is still fine.

Still, if I were a more fiscally responsible person, I'd wait until a year or so after launch to get a Wii.

Of course I'm not and can barely wait a week for my next-gen Zelda experience.

With Nintendo products, it's more a question of continued third party support than it is any hardware difficulties. Both the N64 and the Gamecube started to be avoided by third party developers pretty quickly. That may not happen with the Wii, but then again, it could.

Given that the Wii has the strongest 3rd party support for any non-handheld Nintendo console in a while, I don't think that's a concern. For example, Disney just opened up a game studio dedicated to only making software for Nintendo systems -- the Wii and DS (ninwifi.com) The main reason that support was dropped for the N64 and the Gamecube was that the Nintendo install base was too small, but given the hype for Wii pre-orders, that shouldn't be a problem this time around. And don't forget that development for the Wii is much cheaper than development for the PS3 or 360. Studios won't have to sell as many copies of Wii games as they will on the other consoles to make a game profitable. Nintendo's in a very good position right now, 10 days before the release of the console. Admittedly, we'll see how things shake out over the holiday season, but I wouldn't be worried about third party support.

Yeah, the industry seems to be very ....I don't know if interested or excited is the word. Maybe both, when it comes to the Wii.

Conversly every day there is more Sony bashing. Yesterday I waas reading, I think at gamespot, the founder of Atari and later Chucky Cheese thinks Sony is arrogant, and will likely find themselves in last place whereas he likes the 360 a lot and is curious about the Wii.

He basically said Sony only was dominant due to timing and pricing more than anything, and they don't have either advantage here, plus they are notoriously hard to program for.

Then again, there are already people waiting in lines in some places for a PS3, so who knows.

I really do want a Wii, I just don't know if I'll have time now to sit outside waiting to get one.
