I want to get some dirt on a company... local info. How is Duke as a customer, and do you expect that they will be able to pull this off? Do they have a record of poor service in the area, or are they highly regarded? How is their billing department?

Disclaimer: I own ABTG stock (not a ton but I might buy more if you have good things to say about Duke)

I own Duke Energy stock and they pay me a decent dividend but that is all I can tell you about them.

I live in Western North Carolina and used Duke Power when I first moved here and when I lived in South Carolina. They commonly have problems in ice storms; they don't clear enough powerlines beforehand, and neighborhoods lose power for up to a week in the winter because of this. Happens every year in the Carolinas. Also, it was only within the last few years in South Carolina that they decided to leave on the power for late-paying customers during the winter. Some older folks died when Duke cut their power.

They often seem like a very large company with baffling management choices.

Is it mainly above ground utility lines, or do they have underground lines in places?

I ask because BPL generally seems like it would work better in places with underground lines, as there is less chance for signal egress.

If it is above ground, and it works, I guess that's a good thing.

Could you let me know if you ever see ads for this service or press on it in the local papers or TV?

Sure,I'll look.

So much of the Carolina's area is rural that I'd wager 80% of Duke Power's lines are above ground.
