Anyone got a clue who they'll pick to manage Roode? The logical favorite is Trinity, who's no longer attached to Bentley and Kazarian (unless I'm mistaken). Bobby Heenan is just a tease, as will be a few others they'll undoubtedly bring in.

My own pick is Sherri Martel. That's who I would pair Roode up with - if TNA is serious about making Roode a star. Trinity can't bring to the table what Sherri would.

I believe Trinity is tied up walking to the ring with the FBI in ECW, so I'd have to doubt that prediction.

Trinity's with ECW -- do you mean Traci? If so, I agree with everything you say about her.

Martel? Hm -- I have to think that's pretty unlikley. Whenever there's a "big surprise," I always assume that it'll be the most boring choice possible -- so I can't think it won't be Traci.

I'm guessing it goes another three months before they forget about it and drop it completely.

Is Martel under one of the "Legends" contracts with Vince?

I though Heenan had one too.
I bet it's Harvey Whipleman (sp?).

Do you think Slick "The Doctor of Style" would do it?

If I'm not mistaken, there are a couple different kinds of "Legends" contracts. One contains appearance deals (like the one Animal had), and the other is just for license rights for merchandise (t-shirts, Jakks action figures, etc.)...which is what I think Heenan has.

Yeah -- for instance, Sabu signed a WWE Legends contract in late 2005, while remaining an active TNA wrestler for another half a year or so after that.

My bad, I meant Traci Brooks. Personally, there's no difference between the two for me.

The Legends deal that most old-timers have is a contract which basically requires them to get permission from WWE before making appearances at a car dealership or what-not. The HOF deal is a little different, from what I understand.

I'd be very intrigued if Jake Roberts got involved...

But then I'd rather see Jake as the manager for Abyss.

My favourite part of the Roode manager search was that vignette where he tells TNA's regular trio of managers (Mitchell, Shane Douglas and Simon) to take a hike. I realize the point was 'Roode is special, so he wants someone above and beyond,' but it really made two characters that TNA has been building up (Mitchell and Douglas) look kind of like chumps.

I know it really doesn't mean anything these days but I thought I read that Sherri Martel was retiring from the biz soon or that time had already come.

Douglas is a perpetual chump in TNA. He's done very little to deserve any respect as a navigator of success. Sinister is so maniacal, I can see why Roode would dismiss the notion of working with him. If he were looking solely at TNA managers who have lead clients to gold, well, Konan is right there.

Is the Team Canada manager gone for good from TNA; would Roode bring him back?

You mean Scott D'Amore? He is actually TNA's head booker right now I believe.

I think Roode will "pick" SoCal Val. I read that she recently signed an official contract with the company (she had been working in a ring girl type role). She's also hinted an appearance in Playboy as well. Makes sense to push her.

I believe that's enough pointless speculation. I'm closing this before it devolves completely into really stupid fantasy booking.
