I think Angle is one of the guys who needs to just plain stay away from the business a while.....as much as I would like to see him on TV again, he seems like a guy that would be itching to get back in the ring if he was on the road again managing or commentating.

Im glad Kurt Angle seemingly realized his situation and decided to step back.

Here is a man who will undoubtedly one day be with Eddie in that Hall of Fame, but there is no need for him to go out in the same way as Eddie.

Thank you for everything Kurt. And thank you for remaining a living legend. Good luck.

Well obviously this is a mixed bag - good for Kurt and those that don't want him either dead or paralyzed, but bad for the quality of any program he might have even thought about performing on. His health takes precedence.

I'm really posting to share this video (youtube.com) of his gold medal win, for those of you (us) who are also fans of amateur wrestling. It's just under 10 minutes long. Also, it's strange seeing Angle 1)with a full head of hair and 2)not ridiculously bulked up.

It's great that he's going to have some time off to get his personal life & health in order, but from everything that's been said, this was forced upon Kurt. He didn't voluntarily decide to step away for his own good. The WWE wanted Kurt to do certain things (drug rehab?), and he refused, which is why he's been released. I like the guy, don't get me wrong, but let's not pretend he's doing this for his own good.

that is why I used the word seemingly, unless you talk to Kurt himself; there's no way to know.

In any case what remains is that he has the opportunity now to get his shit together- once again, whatever the situaton- good luck Kurt.

About 12 years ago I was at a wrestling camp where it seems like half the instructors/counselors are now involved in pro wrestling or MMA (Angle, Matt Ghafarri, Tom Erikson, Mark Kerr, Randy Couture, Jeff Blatnik). While Erikson was the biggest dickhead, always going overboard and hurting people, Angle was one of the nicest and funniest guys there. He'd still waste you in no time, but at least you felt like you were learning a little bit while you got your ass kicked. He'd try to help you out.

Some of my favorite memories of being there that year were involving Angle, and what has happened since then only enhances them. I was waiting in line at the snack table with a few dozen other hungry people clogging up the area. Kurt was right at the front, and after purchasing his food he began trying to make his way through the mass of people with a "Whoaaa! Comin' through with the cookies now!" as he clutched his cookies to his chest. That same night we had our door open and he walked by, he stopped in and talked to my friend and I about stuff, both wrestling-related and not. Seemed like a really cool guy...well, either that, or he just wanted some of our pizza.

But enough of the memory lane nonsense. It certainly sucks he is off TV, as he's clearly still a top performer (his match with 'Taker in February is still my favorite match this year so far). Regardless, whether he was forced out or made a mutual decision, this is what needed to happen. He's done enough. Far more than enough.

Truth be told, this is more of a relief than anything. I hope he seriously considers walking away. I donít know, though Ė heís such a high-motor guy that Iím not sure itís psychologically possible for him to just turn it all off.

agree with most of you. sad to see him go, relieved he is leaving under his own power and will. we have dvds to watch you all we want Kurt, stay safe and healthy. every match he was in was awesome. the man loved what he was doing and it showed. the fact he kept wrestling his last match after hurting himself was amazing, and he was doing it for us... not for himself or a paycheck.

thanks Kurt for all the great memories and matches, hope to see you in the ring again, love to see you live a long and healthy life.

skimming through youtube, this is the best i could find...
