I will fully agree on this one. I have never seen a fight as brutally incredible as this one, and those two men both deserved to win, but I think calling it a draw would have been terrible. I was so upset I didn't get tickets for the fight when I had the chance. That ninth round was one of the greatest single rounds I have ever seen.

Good God was that an amazing fight. I thought Gatti was dead in the ninth. Nothing topped though when they both just stopped punching for a moment, and you could see them look at each other and almost nod, and then right back into beating the hell out of each other again.
Be interesting to see if Barrera/Morales II can approach the intensity of this one. Would love to see either Ward or Gatti vs. Tszyu for a change of pace too.

This was an excellent fight. Gatti would have won it though if he had just kept to McGirt's strategy of boxing from the outside.
Tszyu would be very interesting, but as you saw against Tackie, he would more than likely stay away from Ward and win by volume from the outside. Gatti would probably get caught late in the fight in a mistake and get KOed. Both would be fun to watch though.
HBO and Showtime have been airing some pretty good fights, folks...

An awesome fight, but when I watched the replay the very next morning it was obvious Gatti got screwed. I thought it was a draw or very close when I watched it the first time and had no problem with Ward getting the decision, but the second time I watched I was amazed at how much Gatti controlled the action.
I think Gatti lost because he looked *too* good in rounds 1 and 2 so when Ward would throw a flurry out there it was given more credit than it ordinarily would have. That and the fact that it didn't look like Ward was ever hurt (body language-wise) and Gatti looked to be in visible pain 2 or 3 different times.
ESPN.com said that one judge gave Ward Round 9 10-7 and that was the point that won him the fight, otherwise it would've been a draw. I'd love to see Ward fight Tszyu for a big payday to end his career, though I'm certain he would only have the proverbial "puncher's chance" to beat Tszyu.
